I’m starting to notice from the contradictions in my research that no one actually knows where fruits are native to or where they originate from. Especially if we assume that all land masses were once connected. Like these Gin Berries for example, when did they get here from Sri Lanka to the point that it’s found growing wild in abundance on the island. This goes for most things I’ve researched. Even scientific names of plants are sometimes attributed to the European scientist that “discovered” it. Sounds like mental colonialism to me. I guess I’m venting about the credibility of our society and a lot of the nonsense we’ve been taught, hope you guys didn’t mind the mild rant 🙃 Anyways, this little known fruit has come to notice due to its antioxidant properties and it’s possible effectiveness in helping to slow the progress of degenerative diseases. The ripe fruit has a somewhat spicy, gin-like aroma. I remember first coming across these and tasting one without doing any research. Sometimes you just have to trust your instincts when somethings says “eat me.” ・・・ #growninhaiti #ginberry #orangeberry #Glycosmispentaphylla #rutaceae #haiti #ayiti #wild #asnativeasAmericans #foodforest #diversity #variety #beneficial #observations #questioneverything #unlearntolearn #organic #nogmos #nopesticides #noherbicides #wild https://www.instagram.com/p/CBDQbPtFlCQ/?igshid=goopyrfsdqzu
