It. Is finally. DONE.

I have been working on this edition of Flowey is Not a Good Life Coach by @unrestedjade since the year started. The typeset took a while to proofread amid other projects, and then I had to try and find free assets for the specific imagery I was looking for - namely, crawling, suffocating vines. THEN I had to make all the graphic design fit, then make the printer somehow bend to my will to print it all correctly (which ended up being a hell of a mixed bag, but I'm hoping it's not super visible here), and THEN binding.

But, when all is said and done, I think this is a totally beautiful book, and hands down one of my best so far. The endbands are "simple front beaded," and this is only my second time sewing them directly into the book. While I definitely need more practice, I'm so jazzed by them. This was also my first time doing loads of "big book" techniques: namely, sewing onto tapes, rounding, and using a thinner cardstock for the spine in order to accommodate a more flexible shape. In the end, it really is beautiful, and a love letter that I am proud to have created to one of my favorite fanfics ever.

Writing this thing really made me think a lot about how Undyne and Toriel would get along, which was a lot of fun.  So, thanks for the prompt.  Undyne proooooobably wouldn’t have killed Papyrus.  It’s lucky he’s so tough!  Toriel saved him from a lot of unnecessary suffering, though.

anon: Yeah, people seem to think it’s okay to edit ANYTHING for kids just because it happens with big movies like Snakes on a Plane and whatnot. But movies like that are owned by studios, not a single creator. Those studios have the right to decide if it gets a TV or “kid friendly” edit. Fanfictions belong to their creators, and so someone editing the original text as they please without permission is just insulting to the creator. And continuing to do such things when the creator has asked you to stop is just arrogance and entitlement, the likes of which can kill and break apart fandoms.

glacies: I KNOW, AND IT’S GETTING WORSE OMG. Now they’ve told some story about how they’re a teacher and Undertale has taken over their school, and that one of the parents in the PTA wanted a censored version of the story. And the way they write it, they seem to think Jade should be flattered that other people IRL are talking about her story. It’s just pure arrogance. They don’t give a shit about who created what so long as they can use it for their own purposes.

It seems this “teacher” needs a lesson in common decency and respect.
