Obnoxious William Wisp fan who’s doing so . Good. So good after this episode.

So insane how this is like. Maybe genuinely the first time we’ve ever seen William angry. PD included. The closest William ever got to “angry” (to THIS extent) was grayscale finale, and even then it was more complicated and far more sad than pissed off. Insane how the only way William will ever get mad is through unnatural means. Only in a bout of madness have we ever seen Will mad. I’m going to chew on this for forever

UNWITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM 2.4 SPOILERS!!!

i was doing mostly okay for most of the episode and then the ritual. fuuuuuck my life. i am a William Wisp enjoyer first and foremost so i need to talk about him a bit

first of all!! Will trying to help Norah and it just making it worse because she trusts him. ughhhhhhh what a wonderful wonderful (horrible and heartbreaking) way to describe their friendship. sobbing violently about them.

then!! while everyone else is being lured by the voices of family and Lui being lured by ancient magic and shit, Wiwi just hearing his friends???? heartbreaking. awful. give me more

AND THEN!!! the moment that had me kicking my feet and screaming (internally, or else my friends would have pushed me off the only cliff in Deadwood)- PISSED Will. he has NEVER been that pissed before. not even during grayscale. ugghhghhhh it made me honestly so happy i LOVE when characters have to act out of character. AND!! his reasoning for needing to take down the dark young being what it has done to his friends,,,, guhhhhh this guy cares so so much i love him so much. and him being so angry and shit and making Norah say he’s being so loud and trying to use Bella and Mr. Brooks’ deaths to make Issac give him the axe and trying to take the book from Lui. trying to help his friends but ending up doing things to directly go against what they want. the phrase “no matter what” is terrifying. i need to scream and cry a bit now.

Upp 2.4 really reinforced a lot of ideas I’ve had about Williams character for a while and it makes me sooo happy…

Lui getting angry at William because he’s acting so stupid and playful amongst all the terrifying things. William constantly edging away from direct danger yet still complaining when it has to be his turn. William making jokes and puns at such a horrible time because he copes with it all in a way that just Isn’t Helpful to everyone else.

He’s not malicious about it, he’s just inherently playful (wisp moment) and more of an aid than a tank (wisp moment).

William looking to Lui’s eyes and seeing how overconfident he feels with the grimoire… I really love how often in upp (and in pd actually) he picks up on people lying or acting oddly (even when it’s not malicious!!! Lui upp2.4 and Tide in pd1 finale!!!)… William Could have said something to him, could have done more. William could have comforted Norah and Lui and he sort of tries by attempting to lighten the mood but they just don’t land.

It really feels like William isn’t built for the story he’s in. He’s a comedic dork who never seems to fully grasp the danger he’s putting himself in despite being so afraid of it. He never takes anything seriously enough. And it annoys the other characters!!!! Lui gives him a look, Norah is clearly on her last bits of sanity and Isaac clearly disliked William’s little “why is it always me?” In the forest!!!!! William being the problem in every dynamic he’s ever been in and ever will be because he’s just Like That (wisp moment) !!!!!!!
