Track Season Summary
As I did at the end of cross country season, I want to give a summary of this past track season. I include indoor track and outdoor track in this because they are both track season. So, let’s start with indoor track. I came into the season after having a pretty bad cross country season. Things were different though coming into this season. My whole mindset was different than first semester. Over that winter break I had gone back to visit where I was originally from. There, I hung out with a girl who had been my best friend for 7 years. She was dating a guy at the time, but we had always had a huge crush on each other. It never worked out though because the distance was too much of a problem. We ended up hooking up and I honestly didn't feel too bad because I thought the guy she was dating was a huge asshole. My first two meets in indoor track were extremely bad. Most of the reason for that was because I had a severely strained hip flexor that caused me to run slower. The day of my 3rd race though something happen. My friend from where I used to live broke up with her boyfriend in favor of me. I was elated and felt like I could do anything. I went out a ran an amazing race, my first of the year. I felt like a million bucks out there. All my teammates (and myself as well) thought the only reason I ran well was because she had broken up with her boyfriend that day. A week later, she ended up getting back together with her boyfriend and said she never wanted to talk to me again. I got kinda nervous because we had our biggest race of the year at that time coming up. No one really thought I was going to run well again. I came out and ended up somehow running the best race of my life. I couldn't believe it and neither could my teammates or coaches. Over the next 7-8 races after that, I was unstoppable. I just felt confident and even my coaches said there were many days it looked like no one could beat me. I had it all honestly. I got all conference honors and set the all time stadium record for the 5k at our first outdoor race. To top it all of, I was talking to a girl who was perfect for me. Although, she was 2 years below me and a high school senior, my teammates and friends couldn't deny that she was absolutely perfect for me. She was one of the top track hurdlers in the state, she was pretty, she was funny, and we had the same style of humors. She knew how to bring out the funniest and nicest side of me and that was probably my favorite thing about her. We both mutually decided to be friends though because she is going to college over 2 hours away. Back to my season though. The rest of the season after setting the stadium record was kinda average. I was running well, but I always felt like I could run better. I still summarize it as a very successful season. I made some huge strides (pun intended) and definitely think I put myself in a good place heading into cross country in the fall. Thankful for my teammates and coaches who stuck by me every step of the way and ready to try and have an even more successful cross country season!!
