I'm not going to have time to put together the video for this this week, as we are about to go visit family. However, I wanted to have something big posted before I go!

The doll body is now up on Ko-fi for members (its free!). Everything has successfully test *sliced* but as per usual I cannot test print.

The ears can rotate, the ear "bands" and ruff and tail are all removeable, and there are two sets of hands now. This includes only the right side pieces and the left side is just an exact mirror.

It's been a while since I posted something. I posted this last night on my insta but forgot to post it here whoops! For the #NEOPETS Contest: Usuki Couture theme I submitted an Usuki art doll and packaging!

I always wanted to try making some sort of posable doll or figure so this was a fun challenge! Her mane is brushable (and comes with a mini comb), and her clothes are interchangeable. Her purse opens as well and can hold the mini comb. Every part of the body that is covered by the plush fabric is posable, including her tail and ears.

I tried to stick with art materials I’ve collected over the years and ended up making a new “Summer Breeze” Usuki in the process. The outfit is a simple and casual top set, with some fun and whimsy from the pattern in the top and added flower accessory.

The base of the Usuki doll is made with clay, acrylic paint, plush fabric, and a wire armature inside surrounded by polyfil stuffing. Her mane is made from unraveled and brushed out yarn. The 'flocking' on her face and hands/feet are made from a cut up chenille yarn that matched the plush fabric.

The clothes are made from cotton and snap buttons so they can be removable. The purse is made from synthetic leather, bead and jewelry accessories, as well as a snap button to open/close. The chain strap was reused from an old necklace. The mini comb is made from clay and paint. The head accessory is made from 2 flowers from a fake bouquet merged together, with a red elastic attached on the back so it can be removed from the ear.

The packaging dieline was designed in Adobe Illustrator and headshot drawn in Clip Studio Paint. The packaging was printed on matte cardstock paper. The Usuki wordmark is from the "Usuki Doll Packaging Foreground" wearable.

Also this is what I wrote on the back of the packaging (couldn’t fit this part in the main post):

“This Usuki doll is all about the easy going and chill vibes. The relaxed clothing allows her to feel the breeze of a warm sunny day, while showing a bit of whimsy with her favourite flower accessory.

The bendable Usuki allows you to pose her however you want, and mix and match her clothes any way you like! She also comes with a brush accessory that can be stored in her purse so you can keep her mane nice and clean.

Have fun with your new Usuki in the summer breeze today!”
