Your honor, I love them
I want to quickly talk about some of the reactions I've seen about this shutdown real quick.
I get that we can laugh about this, talk and complain about how we want our fics and that we're upset about ao3 being down but some people (seemingly people new to fandom from what I can tell) are going too far with it
I've seen people who have been genuinely upset at the volunteers because they "aren't working quickly enough" or just because they're that distraught over their lack of fanfiction. I saw a post that was just pure abuse directed towards the people trying to fix the issue we're having.
Do you people understand what these volunteers do? Do you understand that without them we wouldn't have the fucking site? Without the volunteers that run and maintain ao3 we wouldn't have a functioning archive?
These guys do all of this work for free only for you to be ungrateful. Let them take their fucking time if they need to, they're people too.
Go and thank the people at OTW for their work and go sit in time out, go and think about what you're saying.
HSR man… enough has been said, but I still need to say my piece. The train has been derailing for a while now, so it’s something we’ve seen coming, but that still doesn’t make the aftermath any easier to process. I’m absolutely gutted because the potential of what Dmitry and Lane could have been in the hands of a less bigoted and hateful writer... that’s really what I’m mourning now at this point (and what Anna & Greg romancers have been mourning for a while now).
I’ve seen people say “well Lane was always supposed to be like this, she was never supposed to be a good person.” Then what was the point of establishing the Voice of God and Whisper of the Devil paths? What was the point of branching routes where she is either aligned with the squad or out for herself? What was the point of any of it if, when it comes down to the most rudimentary choices and the most crucial moments, Lane can ultimately never be redeemed? If she can never grow? Even if she is like Audrey, and it’s all designed for her to ultimately end up as a sacrificial lamb, where is your accountability as an author for your main character’s lack of development? There is a way to write flawed/complex/traumatized characters navigating a dystopian world WITHOUT disillusioning your entire audience in the process. An audience who have not only invested resources like time and money, but also grown emotionally attached to the characters you’ve developed.
I used to lose sleep in the beginning updates of this story because I was genuinely excited by the possibilities. I was excited about the idea of expanding the HS universe that has held a special place in my heart since I first started playing RC at the peak of my depression in 2021. And Sasha has repeatedly disrespected and perverted that world. Suffice to say, I’m completely done with HSR and strapped the hell in for HS3. Sasha better have NOTHING to do with that project. Like I don’t even want her pinky toe to be within a 30 mile radius of it. She can’t sit with us.
So, fun fact: this was one of the first interviews I saw with Noah and I thought 'is that really him? how is he so soft spoken?' and till this day I want to know how he got into this sitting position like 'hey, do you mind if I just take my shoes off and sit like this?'😭
Also grillz, also his lisp🥹 he's just a baby
Reminder that you can both be disdainful of an aspect of our society (fast fashion, unsustainable farming practices, car-centric urban planning, etc) while also being aware that disadvantaged groups have no choice but to contribute to that aspect of our society. Stop telling your friend on food assistance that chicken is farmed unethically and they should switch to something else; tofu is more expensive per calorie in most cases and it's typically less available. Raising awareness is one thing, but instead of putting that impetus on people without the financial ability to change their habits, contribute to your community in such a way that those people are empowered to make more sustainable choices. Watching your neighbor's kids while she goes shopping so she can take her time and buy things that are ethically sourced will go a hell of a lot farther than performative activism that just makes people mad at themselves.
all the slut-shaming, and the fact that it's mostly coming from the girls themselves...
always trust this show to show the deep cutting effects of misogyny and patriarchy.
i feel so fucking awful for sarah.

It just clicked in my head that the love I hoped for and didn't believe existed—the love I created and portrayed (and still do) in my stories when I started writing back in my teens—actually does exist. I think I was manifesting unknowingly.
I'm just taking a moment to feel grateful for it and to share with you guys to never settle for less than what you dream of. ✨
