     “Complaining about it isn’t going to prevent it, Doctor,” He secures his helmet in place, ensuring the seal is tight, before he turns his head to look at the man currently grumbling away to his left. “You’ve a patient to see,” And Khan is to protect them both. A member of the crew - Khan hadn’t been paying attention to the name - is wounded or sick on the planet they’re exploring below. They can’t get them back up to the ship just yet-- so they’re to go down.

      Much to the doctor’s annoyance, it would seem.

“It’s not that simple...” Black wings unfurled and empty white eyes squinted at the other’s form. Suddenly, sharp teeth bared and the fiend let it known that his fury was still boiling and eating him from within. “I thought you were the smart one out of the two of us...” He said in a near mocking fashion, his tail lashing to his side- much like a whip. “Couldn’t you have figured somewhere in your plans that I’d feel betrayed?” A low growl escaped the devilman. 

“You took everything from me- I don’t think there’s any place for forgiveness anymore. I got nothing left to lose, you made sure of that. So now? Now... I don’t care what happens next. I just want this to end.”

“So...unless you kill me now, I’m going to fight you until my last breath.”

  – Kain leaned heavily on the sword he’d struck into the ground, panting, barely on his feet. The clash of their swords still rang in his ears.

  “That seems easy for you to say,” he replied, bitterly.

  But as he looked up at Cecil, the fury dissipated from his eyes and he smiled faintly. 

  “In hindsight, I should have had someone less accomplished help me train. This is much like a mage’s apprentice trying to duel the Mysidian elder, I fear…”

  He laughed, hauled himself to his feet and prised his borrowed sword out of the dirt. It felt awful. The only reason he’d picked it up was because…

  because he ought to have some skill in a range of disciplines, like any good soldier. 

  “… I concede.” Kain sighed. “For now. A drink? It seems only fair that the loser buys.”

     “Your calculations are off by one decimal place.” He speaks without truly looking up from his PADD, having cast a brief glance at the engineer’s screen before returning to his own work. His fingers tap away at his screen, and he moves to take a seat. He needs to make some adjustments to his suit, and this is the best place to do so.

     “You are taking far too long, Captain. I do believe time is of the essence.” They don’t exactly have long to get down to the planet and evacuate the landing party that seem to have just DISAPPEARED. They know their rough coordinates-- and they also know there are cannibals on this planet. So, really, no time to dally.

      -- Not that Khan would mind a THINNING of the herd. But that’s his little secret.

      “Kirk, yes?” John sweeps a calculating gaze over the young cadet, to see if he can catch a glimpse of what Pike is so fascinated  by, before he extends a hand. “Commander Harrison. Have you been briefed on what we’re doing today?” He’s not used to being stuck with CADETS, but apparently this one is on the up and up, and needs some first hand experience before he’s done with his classes. He’s a fast paced FAVOURITE, and apparently Pike value’s Harrison’s opinion enough to want it on his abilities.

      John’s gaze drifts over his shoulder when someone addresses him, eyes the hand holding his PADD lowering it slightly as he turns expectantly. “Captain Kirk, yes?” He greets, calculating gaze hidden behind a polite smile. “Commander Harrison. I was told you were coming, but given no reason.”
