On this day, May 8th, 80 years ago in 1945... we had victory in Europe. The end of the totalitarian and genocidal Third Reich was realized after 6 years of tears, sweat, and blood. Millions dead, a continent ravished, an entire generation traumatized and 3% of the entire world population would not make it before the end of the war in August.
Today is a day of celebration of the victory against Nazism and Fascism, but it is also a day of remembrance for those that did not live to celebrate with us. We will remember the soldiers on the ground, the people at the home front hiding in shelters, and the people Hitler and his posse worked so hard to exterminate and those that lived to see his plans fail, their descendants that to this day feel the words "never again" harder than most.
Today is May 8th 2025, and today is V-E Day.

Hello! How are you? I'm very much in love with your stories. I discover your tumblr today and I already read most of them. Are you taking request? Keep up your good work! You really are very talented!
hi ! first i'd like to say...
(gif originally posted by dawningli; you have no idea how long i've been waiting to use this gif)
and thank you for the nice words 🤗 i've been good, and i hope you've been too!
now about requests; the original plan was for me to start taking requests at some point once i've worked through my original ideas, but the truth is i've been busy and sort of moved on from bob (though it'll always have a special place in my heart). you might still catch me lurking around tho
that said i just started my third rewatch, so maybe summer will be a renaissance time for me to start writing bob again. in the meantime, hang tough!
When news of the German surrender began to trickle in, New Yorkers lost no time to celebrate, May 7, 1945. V-E Day, as it was called, didn't come till the following day. These women are tossing real ticker tape out the window in the Wall Street area.
