STAR TREK: VOYAGER // S1E14: Faces
After so many years of inaction, a God of Mischief and Stories was liable to grow bored. This was perhaps not a safe situation for a multiverse to be in, surviving on the whims of a Loki, but there were worse options. With the Tree not yet ready to prosper alone, Loki had been exploring timelines as a projection to entertain himself. Other times he simply closed his eyes and drifted, overseeing things as an omniscient creature could. Upon one of these explorations he discovered a version of the Moon Knight. Dramatic events played out and this system of men was separated from their deity.
What a fascinating concept, to have a mortal as an avatar. Loki would have once scoffed at the idea, considering he descended from the lines of gods who could walk among men. For now, however, he existed on another plane, and if it weren't so utterly rigid he might be able to boast that it lay beyond the infinite, that he was outside of Elder Gods, he was above Celestials. He could see more than this still than anyone but a few oddballs could imagine. And still here he was as useless as those greater pantheons.
But an avatar. What if...?
Loki cast a projection of himself, star-flecked robes and kintsugi horns on display, at the foot of the once Moon Knight's bed, waiting to be noticed.
"Hi. Not the pantheon you were expecting, I take it?"
