Hi all, I’m Vaein. I have been a sex and relationship educator and a sex worker for the last 5 years. Not US-based, chronically ill, queer, non-monogamous, immigrant. I work mostly on sex-ed with people with learning difficulties and disabilities, and education on lgbt+ (emphasis on the T) inclusion in primary, secondary and further education. I support sex worker rights, activism, and bodily autonomy. They/them.

Ok well...for some unknown reason that paypal has yet to explain (I tweeted at them several times lol...) my PayPal account was frozen in the last day of my indiegogo which is when most of the support comes through. This really stalled a lot of my fundraising and people told me they couldn't donate. This has been fixed now and will be open for a bit longer here.

 However I managed to MAKE MY TARGET!! I was successful and now I'll be prepared to fund the next two issues of Vaein in a quality medium. I don't want this to be disposable. I want it to be a resource that readers keep coming back to. I always want it to foster real connection, honesty and community. I want this to enrich and encourage readers and I hope it inspires people, especially younger lgbtqia people, to live openly and confidently, or for them to be content with themselves.

I have a lot of things to say on this in general. I'm happy to do a breakdown but I figure you guys are smart. Printing is incredibly expensive. I hardly broke even off the last two and I suspect with this issue it'll be the same thing. I'm also trying to pay the artists featuring in the zine. I'm open to the idea of what Laverne Cox calls "possibility models." I’m not specifically interested in getting random big names in the zine based off “aesthetics” (although there’s definitely going to be a focus on good design) unless they have something I think needs to be said. I want there to be a large group of important voices telling raw, hopeful truths to those who read it. I hope it touches all the bases.

I couldn’t be more thankful for anyone who made this happen, who shared and reblogged and donated. I think this will open up a much needed space. I want this to be yours as much as it is mine. I’m really excited for the future and for who’s going to be in the next few issues.

This is to all my followers.

A very, very small percentage of you guys have liked the page for my online blogazine vaein - I put a lot of effort into it and honestly think that we post some relevant content everyday. I hope to tackle larger issues in the future but for the moment I'm just establishing a consistent flow of stuff from some great artists, writers and musicians. Hello!!

for those of my followers who haven't noticed, a few days ago i put up the blog for vaein zine, a project a few friends and I have been working on for some time. i'm really proud of all the people that a are part of it and we're slowly introducing ourselves before we start putting up content. it's all about equality, veganism, pop culture and counter-culture, the arts (film, music, and visual art) and a bunch of other feel-good stuff.
