1-800-Flowers Fail

As you may have heard there were many disappointed valentinesthis Valentine’s Day, thanks to 1-800-Flowers. Many customers had undelivered flowers, received withered flowers, or incorrect orders. As a result, frustrated customers took to social media to share their wrong orders and make their complaints to the company. In just a short time, people’s complaints gained attention from other users and many posts were shared. Although the company tried to remedy the situation by replying to upset customers and offering refunds or future discounts, the damage was done.

Not only has the company lost these unsatisfied customers, but probably other potential future customers who have discovered the incident through the media. Preventable mistakes like these can create crucial consequences for brands, especially as more and more customers take their complaints to social media. Had it just been a few orders that were incorrect, then the company could have avoided the media backlash. However, given the amount of erroneous orders I believe the company will feel the consequences of their mistakes over the next year.
