Mountain high, valley low, The roots reach deep for the winds that blow, And see how tall the hardwoods grow. Mountain high, valley low.

Mountain high, valley low, The river runs both fast and slow. And to the ocean it still flows. Mountain high, valley low.

Valley low, mountain high, I fear you will say goodbye, And leave me here with tears to cry. Valley low, mountain high.

Valley low, mountain high, Here I was born, and here I'll die. Beneath these trees is where I'll lie. Valley low, mountain high.

My Private Corner of the World

“This, my private corner of the world

Has yet to meet another’s eyes

Its’ beauty is indescribable

And in its’ wonders lies…

  Water diving deep to give rich life

And mountains rising to heights steep

Quiet, serene, and shadowed woods

And brooks that lullaby to sleep…

  A moon that paints with silver blue

And swells the night with softening light

And a sky, O, what a sky

With stars no man has seen within this life…

  With choruses, birds herald the dawn

And when it peaks and sneaks over the crests,

It spills and sweeps the great expanse

And lies in meadow fields to rest…

  For no grass is greener than grass grown here

And no scent is purer than this pine air

Truly, no other lakes mirror quite like

The glass waters found at this gorgeous sight...

  And so I, Ansel Adams, do humbly accept

The challenge to capture all that I see

For I know this land is certain to be great

My private corner of the world, my Yosemite”
