By virtue of Writing A Thing ive been thinking abt the 2/2 choice, right. and the more i think about it, the clearer it becomes just how much of a huge Fuck You it is for Ren to choose to take Maruki's offer. It's an inherently selfish choice. Everyone, and Akechi especially, has let him know by that point that they want to go back to their true reality, despite how difficult it is for most of them. And while the choice is presented as something that's going to be good for everyone, it still takes away their agency. AND SPEAKING OF AGENCY.....i feel like no one gets hit quite as hard as Akechi does in this scenario. At that point the question is less "would he be happy with this" and more "is he even the same person". Like, we already know that Maruki doesn't care about someone's personhood (gestures to Sumire's whole deal. and honestly? Rumi also.) as long as theyre Happy Tm. So how much of Akechi will he have to rewrite? At what point is that just a whole new person with the same face? And yes, no one will know that something is different, so does it Really Even Matter etc etc...but it matters that the choice was made in the first place. Like. Ren choosing Maruki's reality essentially means that he doesn't care about Akechi's personhood, either. At the core of it, he wouldnt be making that choice because he likes Akechi as a person, but rather as something To Have. Maybe even throw something about "fixing him" in there. Pick just the palatable pieces and throw away the rest! Fuck you!

Anyway. all this is to say. I dont think Ren would be tempted by Maruki's offer. Not for longer than just a few moments, anyway. Because the thing is. right. The Thing Is. He's losing Akechi either way! And he can either lose him on Akechi's own terms, with the slim chance that he ISN'T actually dead, or he can lose him with a 100% certainty and get Someone Else instead. And yes, he wouldn't Know that this is Someone Else once Maruki's reality sets in, but he'd have to make the choice first. And i just dont think he could do that.

I just don't think Butler gets that much time lounge around. I think most of his free time he spends at his dojo or gym, so if he's relaxing he'd like to wear something nice and comfy.
