He thought the anxiety would get the best of him, but he soon found that being ‘undead’ didn’t make you impervious to getting sea sick. It had been short notice, and he wasn’t permitted to bring more than was necessary. Some clothes and personal affects, the rest he would have to get when he was there. 

On solid ground again he was more than ready to get this little meeting over with so he could try to settle in and get a decent day’s sleep. The cargo container had been loaded on a truck, awaiting inspection. He heard them before he saw them. 

He’d worked with wolves before, it was one of the reasons they’d picked him, that and he was rather good at being professional and courteous when he worked. It didn’t  hurt that there were some good genes in this pack, especially those Teller boys... he didn’t dwell on that long, looking didn’t hurt, but he knew it wasn’t exactly a welcome advance. All in all it went well, the shipment was all there, and Ray extended his clans thanks for their part in the mess that was the last liaison, and of course for their continued business. 

“And there’s the matter of a guard I believe?” he asked as tactfully as he could as the thought of what happened to the man who came before him.

Atomwave in a Vampire Hunter AU or Magic AU?

Vampire. lol. I mean, it’s not a shocker, I’m weak for Vampire AUs. Like, so weak for them. I very rarely go with the second option when one is vampire.

I’d probably go with Ray as some sort of Vampire Royalty and Mick as his personal guard.  Some forbidden romance, angst and a few misunderstandings before they can get their happily ever after.

Send me A Ship and Two AU’s to Pick Between OR Two Ships and an AU, and I’ll tell you which I’ll write.

Atomwave, vampires, "you're not really what I expected"

I liked this prompt but I just can’t seem to write it out more than this:

Ray wakes up to the scent of fire and human. Probably a hunter trying to smoke him out. Ray’s place of rest is well known even if his bedroom is impossible to find and he’s protected from all but the complete destruction of his home. Humans haven’t gotten that desperate to be rid of him, not yet anyways. The hunter is in over his head and Ray is quite grateful for the meal.

Only the human in his foyer does not appear to be a hunter. The man in his plain and worn clothes is a far cry from Hunter for all that his body is built like one. Most likely an ignorant traveler seeking shelter for the eve. Then Ray spots the bag of trinkets and decides ignorant thief is the likeliest reality.

The thief has picked up on being watched even if he has not caught sight of Ray yet. Ray… Debates the merit of eating the man. He’s not that hungry and criminals are sneaky prey. He has always found them more trouble than worth unless the local villagers truss one up for him as an offering.

Besides there’s something odd about this thief, Ray idly listens to the familiar rhythm of Lub-whoosh, lub-whoosh, lub-whoo-

Oh. That’s what is wrong with this thief. The man’s heart is as crooked as his character. Funny. Also quite impressive he looks as healthy and old as he does.

Ray moves to stand in front of the man and starts to offer his hand in friendly greeting.

“The hell!” The man roars as he moves away from Ray and aims a curious weapon at Ray’s head. It looks like a gun but the metal is copper carved with a series of runes that speak of high end alchemy.

Curious and curiouser this thief.

“Where did you steal that?” Ray asks resisting to simply take the gun from the thief’s hand. He knows it’s quite rude to snatch things out of people’s hands but the rune work on the gun is quite fascinating.

“Fuck you, I made this gun myself. What the hell is wrong with you, just running up to people and then callin’ them a thief?” The thief demands but relaxes as Ray makes no further aggressive moves.

“You made- huh. You’re not what I was expecting at all,” Ray said and what hunger he felt left as he studied the mortal. The curiously fascinating human. “I think I’m keeping you.”

“Wha-” the man protested but it was too late.

Oh the thief was as strong as he looked and fought as dirty as Ray anticipated but he had not expected Ray to attack. Once he got past the man’s defenses it was easy enough to sink his fangs into the man and drink.

(When Leonard and Lisa arrive to meet Ray’s newest childe he is quite embarrassed to realize he never did ask the thief for his name.)

A snippet from the Vampire!AU

Joel's vision had gone blurry, Ray was out of control, drinking far too much. Joel had stopped struggling, knowing the "monster's" strength to be something he couldn't fight. Darkness crept at the edges of his eyes, and he knew he was struggling to keep them open. But he had to... he had to stay awake, he had to make sure that Ray wasn't the monster that he was acting like. 

Dear god his neck stung, it burned with a fire he'd never felt before.

Was it because Ray was so weak he couldn't make the venom that numbed the pain, or was it because he had given into his beast-like desires?

Either way, his neck hurt, and he wanted Ray to stop... he wanted to see his Ray. The Ray with the soft red eyes, and bright fanged smile. The Ray that made him breakfast every morning to make sure his 'food had proper nutrition.' He wanted to make sure that Ray was still in there. 

Goddamn his body was getting heavy, wasn't Ray full by now? 

As if to answer his question Joel felt the sucking on his neck stop. It was a sudden pause, a jolt that led to temporary paralysis. The teeth bared in his neck slowly pulled out. He felt the holes in his neck burn, and he let out a hiss to show it.

Ray shifted his weight, centering himself above Joel's chest.

His face wasn't clear, but Joel could tell that his Ray had returned. The softness to his eyes had come back, but they were now filled with fear. 

"What... What did I d-do?" the vampire asked quietly. 

Joel just smiled, and lifted up an arm weakly. His thumb brushed along Ray's cheek. 

"Welcome home." Joel said before passing out.
