Chapter 4: Never felt prouder

Once again, it's so late, it's early.

But I am blissfully off today. And about to call it, regardless.

Part of me foolishly hoped to write the whole dang THING kind of in one go.... but the story seems determined to add more moving parts.

For flavor, here's a little something from the Wikipedia page for Black Dog folklore (that's not the only source I peeked at btw... I know they're sometimes inaccurate, trust me... but these are historical, visual bits).

A vampire in bat form flies into an old abandoned castle. She sees a cat has trapped a pixie in a corner of the castle courtyard. The vampire turns into her human form. She tells the cat to the let the pixie go. The cat lets the pixie go and runs away.

Chapter 3: For a guy like that...

Chapter title from a fun take on what may have been going through David's mind, when he and Michael first met. That initial awkward moment, when David's cool slipped, for just a second, as he glanced down, almost wincing in an "aw shit, there goes my heart" sort of way.

Just a cute puppy harmlessly lookin' for love, right? Mikey can't help what he looks like...

Ughhhh I am worried it’d be a stretch but like… some of my vampires can shift into one particular animal… but like, what if there were fucked up middle stages?

You look up into the trees and see a weird catch of the light. If you squint, the branch seems to be moving, a mass on it. Too big. Feathery. It jumps. The trees shuffle, and shift, until you feel the air getting cooler.

Some have less dangerous animals as a form. Not inherently bad, but it doesn’t feel like much. But after bleeding enough, sometimes hunger shifts from uncomfortable to feral. The sun burns, so why not let some of the scales break through and cover it? Lick and taste the air for anything warm and alive. Just a bite.

One of my guys can become a spider. I wanna know how to transfer that. I’d probably make him hot “””on accident”””
