Scott Lang’s Ringtone (one shot)
Hope and Scott were working together in the lab, or, rather, Hope was working in the lab while Scott sat idly behind her, making a colony of ants march to create different shapes on the ground.
Scott felt a startling vibration on his backside, the pleasant melody of Everyday is Like Sunday resonating from behind him. He reached into the pocket of his jeans and slid his phone out— taking a quick glance at Hope, who was glaring at him concernedly over her shoulder— before checking the number and grumbling softly.
“Spam,” He growled, hanging up and returning his phone to his pocket.
Hope turned back to her work briefly before doing a double take and leaning against the workshop table, her brows knitted together as she stared at Scott, who had returned back to his ant artwork. They formed themselves into a music note.
“Why do I feel like that song has some sort of significance to us?” Hope mused. Scott could feel her eyes burning into his skin. His spine tingled and his shoulders tensed as he looked up from the ground. The ants dispersed as his focus was shifted.
“Wha— What? I don’t... I don’t think it does. It’s just a good song.” He stumbled over his words like a toddler, feeling a burning sensation in his chest as Hope continued to watch him.
“Oh my God...” realization washed over Hope like a tidal wave. “Is that— is that the first song we made love to?!” She hollered, placing her hands on her hips and scrunching up her face mockingly. “It is!”
Scott’s chest was on fire now, the heat making his entire figure droop down further to the ground like a melted crayon on the sidewalk. His hand slithered up to his face to cover his eyes, his slouching reflecting a miserable attempt to hide from the situation.
“You’re pathetic!” She mocked. Her tone depicted disgust but her face showed the opposite. She was grinning like a giddy child.
Scott’s face contorted, his cringing causing his features to scrunch up. He uncovered his face and raised his glossy eyes towards Hope. “Don’t tell Hank.” He pleaded.
She giggled and shook her head at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation. “I won’t, Scott.”
That was only a little reassuring, because if he knew Hope Van Dyne, he knew that she was never gonna let him live this down.
Never.
