The Summer Hikaru Died has collected so many awards for the Summer of 2025 and it's also in the 2nd place in several categories (and Yuuki got 3rd place in best female supporting chatacters!)
The fact that Yoshikaru's queerness won best ship/couple amongst its heterosexual competitors is so refreshing to see! They truly have a constructive, unconditional, adamant, sincere and unbreakable bond that represents themes such as acceptance, self-acceptance, sexuality, internalised homophobia, grief, psychological disorder, diversity and morality like no other. They deserve everything.
Their voice actors also deserve their awards so, so much! They poured their soul and passion into their characters. I feel proud of them, especially for Shuuichirou Umeda since his amazing work is getting more recognised.
I did expect it would also win Best Soundtrack since it was always atmospheric and intensifying the emotions each scene derived. Very beautiful as well, with tracks such as "Remnants/Shadow of Our Days" (the second link is the Hikaru/Yoshiki version), "Corridors of Dawn", "The Sound of a Key in the Door" (the classroom and gym storage room scene in episode 3 and 2 respectively wouldn''t feel the same without these melodies), "The Sky Still Remembers" (same goes for this melody playing when Yoshiki asks of "Hikaru" to kill him after stabbing him in episode 7), "Weaving the Light", "Melancholy and He", "Sleepless Waveforms" and the frenzied drum and bass "Blind Stitches, Run Rampant".
I feel like this is one of not msny works overall that deserves all its recognition, awards and praise for it's created with such love and passion and managed with such reverence. It's heatwarming, sincerely. Each one that contributed to it to any degree should feel proud.
My favorite music of 2024-2025 anime movies/specials (that I watch)
btw. if you even care.

Todome no Ichigeki - Vaundy feat. Cory Wong (Ending 1) Eugene (Storyboard, Director)
Hey y'all know how Vaundy and yama made covers of each other's songs, and someone had the brilliant idea to combine both versions of Tobu Toki into a duet? Yeah that was nice.
But the instrumentals are drastically different for Vaundy's version of Tobou Yo, so the audio can't just be mixed, and the only version I could find was someone playing both songs at the same time and calling it a duet because you're hearing Vaundy in the right ear and yama in the left (yama's version is pitched down btw). Not the worst, but not the best either. The instrumentals clash most of the time, Vaundy isn't singing at the same cadence as yama in some areas, and he isn't singing to harmonize with the original instrumentals.
To make a long story short, I needed to scratch that itch and fix the pitching of the songs to sort of meet in the middle. And when that wasn't enough, I ended up making two versions: one with Vaundy's instrumentals and the other with yama's instrumentals. I probably should've tweaked these more (and I kinda mixed the yama instrumentals version better ngl but the bass in Vaundy's is so good omg), but I'm tired, so enjoy I guess idk—
We won't mention the yama instrumentals version being a video because I will blow up on the spot and revive myself to DDoS tf out of Tumblr for screwing with me once again.
