Day 5 : Dancer ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #OpenHeartSummer August 26-30 ♥️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I read this Chinese Proverb today: ‘Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.’ And I totally agree. Today after the gym and some yoga I went to take my picture for today and something kept going wrong. I was thinking I just need to get this picture and every time I’d check my recording, my foot was cut off, the camera was crooked and the mat was cut off, or it was blurry. I sat down for a min and reviewed the different variations I had tried, picked my favorite and went back in front of the camera once again to try it out. I was more relaxed this time and not too worried about getting the perfect pic and it went much smoother. When you put too much pressure on yourself to be something it’s harder to achieve. Day 2 : low lunge ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #OpenHeartSummer August 26-30 ♥️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Passed out with the sun again but woke up feeling better than yesterday. Low lunge is a pose you’ll find yourself in in almost every yoga class you’ll take. There are so many things to do with it, including just leaning forward and letting your body feel what it can do (swipe). When I’m really tight, I can feel the stretch from the back of my neck all the way to the bottom of my feet. After a long walk with the pup a migraine started to set in so I skipped the gym, had some food, got myself to run one errand and then passed out for a half hour. Woke up feeling the same so got on my mat for 10 minutes. You might find me there a few more times today. Puppy was a great one for me today. I need to work on my shoulder flexibility but often forget to include it in my practice. Expectations vs reality! . Me: "Jack! Come take a picture of me in Scorpion chinstand!" Jack: "Ehm.... Is this supposed to be scorpion pose?" He shows me the second picture. Me: ".... Damn it!" . 👉🏻 Did it happen to you? But it doesn't have to be yoga! Last night I didn't sleep well. So... Tonight I expected to sleep really well: I've gone to bed later, I've taken herbs to sleep better, put on ear plugs to prevent the noise to disturb my beauty sleep, eye mask, light bed sheets and all... Nothing: I slept nothing! 🤯 . Expectations can be very harmful, in yoga and in life.
