klapollo???

I'm about to sound like such a snob here, I apologize in advance. There is an embarrassment of riches with this ship, so I've been able to be picky. 😅 (However you enjoy fandom is totally fine! I'm just speaking to my own preference here)

I like sticking as close to canon as possible, and I prefer my ships as a very, very slow burn. To the point that the further into the relationship feelings are caught, the better. I don't think Klavier got a crush on Apollo from day 1—I find it more interesting if Klavier is holding this guy at arm's length because he's still sussing him out (What did he see in my brother that I couldn't? Can he help me clear up this doubt, or is he just a pawn of Phoenix Wright, and I can continue not thinking about what happened 7 years ago?), and slowly comes to realize that no, Apollo is exactly as earnest and straightforward as he appears on the surface, and finds himself drawn in despite himself.

On paper, what a dynamic: Klavier is a guy who openly switches between masks, and Apollo sees through lies and walks around with everything he feels written on his face. Klavier also just has the best prosecutor dynamic with Apollo, they bounce off each other so well.

My main problem with this ship's content is that people characterize the two of them so inconsistently. From Klavier's side, the guy is kind of hard to read and we're left with a lot of gaps to fill, so I can understand that. On Apollo's side, from what I understand, this is in large part because the english localization for Apollo didn't quite capture his voice right. But that dude is almost never the same guy from fic to fic. It's not always a bad thing! I've read some great stories that don't feel canon to me, but it's clear people do a lot of projecting on him in particular.

Potentially spicy take: I'd love to see more exploration of Apollo as bi, or only realizing he's into men once he realizes what he's feeling around Klavier isn't just jealousy. He shows interest in attention from women in canon, as a bi person myself I just think it'd interesting to have that acknowledged.

My roman empire for this ship is Apollo's line in Dual Destines where he implies the two of them have had an offscreen conversation about Constance Courte's influence on Klavier. Were they talking about Kristoph??

I think the fact that Apollo leaves at the end of AA6 is so, so juicy for them. Especially in my preferred version of things, where the two of them are still at the awkward stage of not really being friends yet, so neither of them really really have a good excuse to reach out, even if they might want to. Where Klavier has to find out about it from someone else, and he doesn't have the right to be hurt about that, but he maybe sort of definitely is anyway. Where Apollo grabs onto any secondhand mention of Klavier, and passes on greetings through other people.

Then the reunion between the two of them once they've had years apart to mature, where Apollo is more secure in himself and less jealous, and Klavier's relaxed his rockstar persona just a bit. Where they're old enough now that asking if they want want to grab a drink and catch up doesn't feel like as much of a risk.

Do you think Crowley is mean to Muriel? My gf says he is a little mean but tbh I don't see it. He wants everyone gone so he can have alone time with Aziraphale, and Muriel is not a friend. They're sweet and all, but they were happy to spy on Crowley and Aziraphale and rat them out to Heaven, and they adore the Metatron quite obviously. Muriel isn't evil, just incredibly naive and as caught in the manipulative system just like Aziraphale is, in a way, but they work for that system and they seem to do it happily. They did help Crowley in Heaven, but that doesn't make them friends especially since as I said Muriel is clearly pro Metatron or too naive to be against him. If I were Crowley, I'd want them gone as fast as possible, too 😅 And they don't get the hint the first time with Crowley talking about "us time" so he just gets a little more direct, but that's about as direct as he can get with Aziraphale, too, and as he is with Maggie and Nina, and it's never mean or rude, yk? Just grumpy, in his lovable way. That's how I always read it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it 😁

* fogot to add: it's nothing personal, Muriel's just doing their job and Crowley knows it, they even helped him (more or less willingly) but they're still working for Heaven.

Hey there, really interesting question! or I'd say two questions: A) Is Crowley mean to Muriel, and B) is that justified?

imo, Crowley & Muriel can basically be summed up by this moment:

"Yay, bully for you." *turns away to go back to cursing heaven*

Crowley, well... he is mean to Muriel. But it's in the way you are when you recognize it's not the person's fault you personally find them annoying, and you don't want to actually make them feel bad. He knows! He knows it's not their fault they're such a neon sign of everything he hates about heaven, that they're so brainwashed and ignorant, and cheerful about it.

But the fact is, Crowley manipulates the heck out of Muriel! And he's downright disrespectful about it, doesn't ever bother to give them a good story, he just says confident nonsense, knowing Muriel has no choice but to take his word for it. He takes advantage of their naivete and uses them for his own ends. That's not exactly nice!

But on the other hand... Yeah, Muriel is a spy for heaven! Not only that, but they've been sent here knowing absolutely nothing about earth. Their very presence is an insult! Crowley and Aziraphale have been here for 6000 years, and heaven still thinks that just the baseline of 'being an angel' makes someone good enough to outmaneuver them? Rude af. So, it's not all that out of line for Crowley to give heaven the same level of respect they showed his side.

But that still leaves Muriel stuck in the middle, getting used by both sides.

I think Crowley is intentionally only seeing Muriel as a tool—one of Heaven, but one that he can use to their advantage. He doesn't want to be sympathetic to them—they are a danger, and Crowley's also got his personal issues around how he seems to have only let himself get attached to one other being.

Yet, there's this moment where he seems to sympathize with them, despite himself:

and another one, when Saraqael shows up and it seems like he's gotten Muriel in trouble, he starts to jump in to defend them. That seems kind.

"shh, don't say anything without a lawyer present."

That final bookshop scene is what you seem to be focusing on though, so let's get there.

Crowley has been hyped up on manic energy all night, all week really, and finally all of this is almost but not quite over, he just wants so badly to finally be alone with Aziraphale and re-establish their status quo. He barely has the patience to even be fake-polite to Muriel (especially now they're being bubbly about the Metatron, who's already on Crowley's shit list and just you wait buddy), he wants them to go away. Maybe it also isn't any fun to manipulate them anymore now he's sympathized with them that little bit.

The pretense is paper thin, but Muriel doesn't get it until he drops it entirely:

This is the first time Muriel's fully cottoned on to the fact that Crowley isn't being Nice anymore. And it's possible Crowley feels bad about it, because when Muriel still tries to stay in the bookshop, he gets dramatic about it, but still reigns himself back in for his next attempt.

The really interesting moment comes when Muriel actually asks for something. Asks to take an earth thing with them, asks to learn. That finally gets Crowley's attention, it's the first time he looks away from the window (Aziraphale) for a reason that isn't telling Muriel to shoo. Long enough to not only look at them properly, but give them enough personal thought that he recommends them a book.

Listen, I love Crowley, but he's kind of an asshole! He's impatient and condescending and manipulative... and yet, when it comes down to it, he cares. All of that can be true.

Alright, Maxwell. Surface level, he's funny and sweet and a breath of fresh air in the stuffiness of court. He thinks big, and he tends to bounce around, but when something is important he can think it through and plan. When something's important, he can slow down and focus and treats it like it's precious.

But the thing that really gets me is when you realize he would go to the ends of the earth for the people he cares about. He does so much and it doesn't even occur to him that he would deserve something in return. Bertrand thinks he's an annoyance when Maxwell worries about him all the time, nOT TO MENTION how he went wayyy above and beyond when it comes to Savannah. that boy is a spoiler. He didn't have to completely supplement her lifestyle. He REALLY didn't have to keep taking the fall for the lost funds and letting Bertrand berate him, all because of a promise. 

He's suffered loss and barely has anyone close to him, but he keeps smiling because it makes other people feel better.

Any thoughts or speculation as to whether the upcoming season 6 of TT will explore more of BBRae??? Id love for them to! Especially since they made them canon in TTGo!

Yo, nonny! Considering they’ve been my ride or die OTP for over a decade now, I would die if this went down. I want to see my babes back on my screen :( I’d say there is a good chance of BBRae getting explored, after both TTG and the history they got in the comics. (though I have no idea what’s happening in the current state of things). I do think that Season 6 finally has a real chance to come back with the DC streaming service, there is a bigger chance of them actually coming back now that they’ll need content to fill it? 

(sidenote: @Disney and @DC why do you all need your own dang streaming service. Stop it, I ain’t got that kinda money.)

I do hope that if they do bring it back, they do it right. TTG disappointed me big time. Do it right or not at all, imho. 

Oh hey, I’ll mention Titans while I’m at it. I am bummed that in Titans they got cast with such a big age gap. Cannot ship it there, Raven is tooo young. Hard Nope.
