The West Virginia Vegetable Man is a supposed extraterrestrial creature encountered by a hunter named Jennings Frederick in in the woods around Fairmont, West Virginia in 1968. He described it as a very tall, humanoid creature composed largely of plant matter, with large ears and long arms.

Frederick reported that he was alerted to the creature by a strange, high-pitched jabbering sound. When he came across it, it communicated in English, stating that it meant no harm and needed medical assistance. However, the creature then attacked him, wrapping its arms around him and draining his blood through thorn-like protrusions in its fingers. Frederick reported being hypnotised by the being's eyes, and that it soon fled with a deep humming sound that he surmised might be its vessel taking off.
