The Acolyte Spoilers!
we need this scene is season 2 PLS
I keep thinking about the reaction Qimir has when he realizes that Venestra is nearby. Sure, he is frightened but he doesn’t run away. He hides out of sight and though his face is hidden behind his mask, I get this sense of longing from Qimir. It makes me wonder if, when he was Venestra’s Padawan, he maybe developed a fixation on her (like a mother/son type) that Venestra wasn’t sure how to deal with. When things possibly escalated, Venestra rejected Qimir but it far too late to put him back in his place. It’s sad to think that maybe such a thing happened. Hopefully we will get a season 2 and maybe even some answers.
I can’t wait to find out about Vernestra and Qimir’s backstories. I just have a strong inkling that she’s the one that gave him that massive scar (psychologically and physically).
We are aware she had a padawan that “failed her”. What if that padawan was Qimir.
Hear me out, what if she did something to the same effect as what Luke did to Ben- she saw darkness in him but assumed it was evil and refused to recognise it as him just being exceptionally powerful and wanting to have the freedom to wield his power without the confines of the Jedi’s rules. She probably tried to kill him when he expressed his desire (hence the whip like scars on his back) because as we saw she will do ANYTHING to cover herself and maintain her beliefs in terms of what she thinks the Jedi represent.
Qimir seems very shaken (rushing to put on his cortosis helmet to block her out) when he realises she sensed him on Brendok, which leads me to believe that 1) they have a shared history and 2) she traumatised him heavily. What if she attempted to condition him psychologically first and when that failed she decided to kill him and cover it up (like what she did to Sol). Or he may have decided to leave the order to pursue his ideals and they got into a fight and she got aggressive in her pursuit to stop him and almost killed him but he managed to survive and fled and she likely covered that up too.
Some other interesting thoughts I had about Vernestra:
She seems way too put together and stern and it reads as duplicitous to me.
She also goes to great lengths to hide the truth, willingly using Sol as a scapegoat and took no responsibility for what happened. So imagine what else she’s capable of or has done in the past in the name of the Jedi code of ethics.
Her lightsaber whip’s kyber crystal is purple and we know lightsaber colours are significant in the SW lore. It could be meaningless, yes, but I know better than to ignore small details in Star Wars. I feel like her saber whip’s colour hints at her being a Jedi with questionable morals. She too could secretly lean to the dark side for the sake of the Jedi code and preservation (Hyper-religiosity seems to be her motif) - kinda reminds me of the Ancient One in Marvel and how they bend the rules tapping into the dark dimension to “protect the world”
Regardless, I am so excited to see more of The Acolyte and the subplots that tie into the main storyline.
they sadly didn’t do themselves a favour by making these episodes so short. while Qimir is an absolute scene stealer in my opinion, every character falls a little flat because we don’t spend enough time with them at all
