Headcanons: Eddie Brock and how he flirts, and how he shows intimacy (physical and not)
Pairing: Eddie Brock x Gn!Reader

Flirting:
Though Eddie is not shy with his flirting, he did tend to fumble through it at first, almost as though he is nervous.
He was mostly nervous with his flirting when the two of you had just met.
He would flirt, but it would be awkward and rushed, but you found it appealing and cute way.
Once the two of you became friends, he was more open and forward with his flirting.
Eddie does not shy away from compliments, he is always willing and ready to tell you you look great, compliment the way you did something, how you said something, etc.
The compliments always have an underlying flirtiness, that you might not always pick up on.

“Snow’s getting heavier.” You commented, as you took a sip of your hot chocolate.
Eddie looked up from his laptop at your comment. The windows were being pelted with snow as the wind swirled around small cyclones through the streets. Glancing at the time on his screen he looked back outside “Looks dark for only being five.”
“Next time it calms down a bit we should go Eddie.”
He nodded, “Yeah okay.”
‘I don’t think it’s going to calm down’ Venom’s voice rang through his head and Eddie frowned “Of course it will.” He whispered. As you glanced over at him, he just pointed to his head and you understood. Eddie continued to type out the story as you looked over the articles of information.
“Eddie, we should go now.” You said as you looked out. The snow was still coming down, but the wind had calmed.
Eddie glanced at the time, 5:57pm, and then out the window “Alright, yeah. I can work on this at my apartment.”
As you left the small coffee shop and entered into the cold, both of you let out heavy breaths as the cold hit you. You wrapped your scarf a bit tighter around yourself as Eddie zipped up his jacket. “Maybe we should get a cab?” Eddie said as he looked around.
“There aren’t any!” You said back as you began to walk faster down the street “Besides, you only live like three blocks from here, come on!” You called back to him.
‘Race.’ Venom’s voice spoke, and Eddie rolled his eyes “Shut up.” He said with mild exasperation.
“What?” You asked as you looked back at him.
Eddie shook his head as he walked up to you “He suggested we race.” He said in a matter of fact tone.
“Good idea!” You said suddenly as you began to run away from him.
“Wha- Hey!” Eddie called out as you did so. ‘What are you doing standing still Eddie?! Catch up!’ Venom screamed and Eddie let out an exasperated sigh “I hate both of you.” You said as he began to run towards you.
When you looked back at him with an amused grin, Eddie couldn’t help but smile. You were adorable. ‘Why are you going so slowly?!’ Venom asked, angry. “Don’t you think I should let Y/n win? It’d be nice, right?” He asked quickly. ‘Wuss.’ Venom’s voice said back. “Dude. Not cool.” Eddie whined, as he moved a little faster as the snow began to pick up a bit.
As you both got to a crosswalk you slowed down as you crossed, and just as you got to the other side you both stopped and looked around as everything went out. The light posts, the ad screens on the buildings, the traffic lights, everything.
“Uh-oh.” You said as you looked around.
“Black out.” Eddie said “Must be from the storm.”
“It is getting pretty bad.” You said as you buried your face in your scarf. The wind had begun to pick up again as the snow got thicker.
Eddie gently grabbed your arm as he pulled you down the sidewalk “Come on, we’re almost there.”
With the race no longer on your mind, you both moved as quickly as you could with the little visibility you had. Shoulders pressed together as you fought against the wind. Your hands were tucked away, but still hurting from the cold as your eyes began to water.
Seeing Eddie’s building finally come into view, you both silently moved a bit faster. And as you got into the lobby you both let out relieved groans as the change in temperature was felt immediately. The lobby was still cold due to the power outage, but it was still warmer than being outside.
Finally getting into Eddie’s apartment, you dropped your bag and stripped off your now soaking wet jacket, scarf and shoes. Eddie did the same as he let out an exaggerated shiver “I’ll get you something warm.” He said as he moved through the house. You smiled to yourself as you heard him bump into something with a whispered curse.
Finding your way to the windows, you opened up the blinds to let in what light you could. You could see nothing through the white sheets of snow covering the window. ‘Well I’m definitely not getting home in this’ You thought to yourself.
Turning when you heard Eddie come back in, you saw him carrying a large sweatshirt of his. Taking it you thanked him before slipping it on, grateful for the warmth it provided. You noted the familiar scent of Eddie’s cologne as you slipped it over your head.
Glancing at Eddie, you saw him staring at you before suddenly looking away, clearly after realizing that he was staring. You smiled to yourself as you felt your cheeks heat up a bit.
“I’m gonna grab some candles and a couple flashlights before it gets too dark.” He said as he began to rummage around.
“Are you alright with me staying here tonight?” You asked a bit awkwardly “I don’t think I’ll be able to get home in this.”
‘“Of course!” He said as he came back with various candles and a couple flashlights. Dumping them on the table he looked over at you “You can take my room.”
“No, no, I’ll take the couch, it's fine.”
“Lighter, we’ll need a lighter, or matches...do I have matches?” Eddie talked to himself before he turned back to you “You don’t want the couch.” He said while pointing at you.
You glanced at him and then at the couch with a frown “...What’s wrong with it?”
“Oh, nothing, it’s just not that comfortable. But I’m used to it, I fall asleep there all the time. Please, take the bed, I insist.” He said as he came back, lighting one of the candles in the center of the table.
You nodded in acceptance. “Okay, thank you.”
He sighed as he stood up “Well. I guess I’m not finishing my article.” He said as he glanced around his room. Looking at you he shrugged “Scrabble?” You paused for a moment before letting out a laugh, which he smiled at.

“I can’t believe you won three times in a row.” Eddie said, a bit defeated as he rested his head on his hands. You giggled softly as you absent-mindedly wrapped your arms around yourself. The power was still out, the snow still coming down, and it was getting colder. Eddie seemed to notice as he lifted his head “Are you cold?”
“Huh?...Oh, yeah a bit.” You smiled softly.
“Let me get you a blanket.” He said, standing quickly. Before you could protest, he was gone, rummaging through his cupboards. A few moments later he came back with a blanket in hand. Sitting down next to you, he draped it over your shoulders, and gently rubbed your arms a bit as he did so “There ya’ go.”
You smiled at him, hoping your heavy beating heart was not audible as it pounded in your ears “Thanks Eddie.” As you wrapped the blanket around you, you felt a chill crawl up your body “It really did get cold fast didn’t it?” You said as you looked at the window. The sky had darkened as the evening came, but the white flakes could still be seen bouncing off and sticking to the windows.
Eddie watched you as he saw another chill come over you as you shivered. “Wow, you really are cold.” He chuckled.
You smiled a bit at him “The cold always gets to me pretty easily.” You admitted.
Eddie scooted a bit closer as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder, rubbing your arms again in an attempt to warm you a bit. As he did so, you could feel warmth radiating from him, and subconsciously leaned in a bit. “How are you so warm?” You asked.
“Oh, uh-” He let out an awkward laugh “It has to do with Venom. My body temperature is higher now that he...well, now.”
“Oh, I see.” You nodded before smiling “You’re like a human heater.”
He chuckled again, “At least he can do something useful.” ‘Hey!’ Venom retaliated immediately, but Eddie ignored him, feeling his cheeks get hotter as you giggled at his comment. Realizing how close he was to you, as well as that he had you practically wrapped in his arms made him suddenly nervous. Slowly pulling away, he reached to the table “I should put this away. And I’m gonna see how many blankets I have.” He said as he rose, you nodded and watched him walk away, your heart still beating rapidly as you noted the disappointment once he let you go.
A few minutes later, Eddie came back with a perplexed look on his face “What’s wrong?” You asked.
“Uh, well, I only have like three blankets…” He trailed off.
“Three?” You asked amused. “Someones never had their heating go out.”
He shrugged a bit “But it’s okay, you can have them. I’m sure I’ll be fine.”
“No, Eddie, you’ll need some too. Venom can’t possibly keep you that warm, plus we have no idea how long this power outage will last. It might get freezing in here.” You trailed off for a moment as he scratched his head “I don’t mind if we share the bed...I mean, if you don’t mind that is.”
Eddie’s eyes shot up at this and he adjusted his stance ‘Oh, do it, say yes.’ Venom insisted, Eddie absent-mindley smacked the side of his head before taking a few steps over to you “Are you sure? That you won’t be..uncomfortable?”
You shook your head “I won’t. It’s not like we’re strangers Eddie.” You said with a bit of amusement. “Plus, I’d rather neither of us freeze to death.”
Eddie seemed to weigh it in his head for a moment before nodding “Okay. But, if I kick you in the middle of the night, or steal the blankets, feel free to push me out of the bed.” He said with a smile, making you giggle.

After a while of talking about the story, and how Eddie should finish writing it, you both grew tired and headed into the bedroom.
Eddie gave you some of his sweatpants to wear, as well as a sweater. After you changed you came into the bedroom with Eddie sorting out the bed, placing the blankets he had evenly on the bed. Looking up at you he smiled a bit as he noted how cute you looked in his clothes.
He cleared his throat a bit, “Do you have a favorite side?”
You smiled a little “No, not really.”
“Good, ‘cause I’m a lefty.” He said, making you chuckle.
After climbing into the bed, you shivered a bit as the cold sheets seemed to reach through your clothes and to your skin. As you got comfortable you laid facing the wall, Eddie behind you. “Goodnight Eddie.” You said softly.
“Goodnight.” He replied.
You knew you were tired, but your mind refused to let you sleep, so you stared into the darkness of the room. The awareness of Eddie’s presence in the bed behind you, almost overwhelming. As you tried to get your mind off of it and get yourself to fall asleep, you felt the cold seeping into the blankets as you curled up a bit, a shiver running through your body uncontrollably.
After a few more minutes of shivering, you felt Eddie turn over in the bed. Making you aware again of his presence. “Y/n?” His voice suddenly said, quietly and much closer than you would expect.
“Yeah?” You asked.
“You’re really cold aren’t you? I can feel you shivering from over here.”
You let out a soft chuckle. “Yeah, sorry.”
“No, no, it’s okay, I’m not bothered by it, I just...Do you mind if I..I mean, I can, since I’m warm, like a heater…”
Before he could really get the words out, you turned around and faced him. You could just make out his silhouette in the darkness. “Yes please. I hate being cold." You said with a soft laugh, though for a moment, heat was provided to you by your own nervousness.
You heard him let out a soft laugh before he scooted closer to you. As you felt his arm wrap around you, you scooted closer as well, your head pressing into his chest, as he rested his own head on top of yours. You were immediately engulfed by his warmth, and his familiar scent calmed your nervousness a bit. “Thank you Eddie.” You said, though your voice was muffled by his sweatshirt.
“Any time Y/n.” Eddie said softly as he tightened his arms around you a bit.
As your shivering began to stop, you felt sleepiness begin to take over again as your eyes grew heavy. The warmth of Eddie’s embrace, the sound of his steady breathing, and the sound of his heartbeat seemed to lull you to sleep.
As Eddie held you and felt himself beginning to fall asleep, he couldn’t help the smile that crept onto his face. He always desired to hold you in his arms like this, and knew it would be nice. And now knowing that it was better than nice, he never really wanted to let you go.

You stretched out your neck as you stood in the elevator, your whole body was tense, cramped up. Sleeping in the back of a car for so long does that to the body. But it was your own fault after all. You were the one who left. You were the one who gave up your home.
“Y/n? Yoo-hoo!” The voice broke you from your thoughts as you saw Eddie standing in the entrance of the elevator, holding it open with his hands “You just gonna stay in here all day?” he quipped.
“Oh, sorry, didn’t sleep last night” you said as you stepped out of the elevator and past Eddie who turned to follow you.
“Yeah I can tell, the bags under your eyes are turning into suitcases.”
You scoffed “Thanks” setting your bag on your desk you sat in your chair.
Eddie sat on the corner of your desk and pointed at you “Hey, you haven’t been sleeping for days now, what’s up?”
You sighed as you leaned back in your chair, you debated telling him, but you weren’t sure what he would do, or what the other guy would do.
Yes, you knew about Venom, and everything that happened with Eddie. You had been close friends for years. Hell, you had a crush on him for longer. But, of course you ignored it, he had been with Anne. And now he wasn’t. But you knew he still had feelings for her, so you still ignored yours. This didn’t stop you and Eddie from being close though. He was the closest thing to family you had.
“It doesn’t matter, I’ll figure it all out.” you muttered out, devoid of any energy.
Eddie squinted at you, what a weird thing to say, something was obviously wrong, he could tell. He knew you better than anyone else, even more than your boyfriend, maybe he was what was wrong. If he had hurt you, Eddie would kill him.
“Why is Y/n lying.” the deep voice of Venom echoed in Eddies mind. He was wondering the same thing.
Eddie opened his mouth to speak but was cut off when your phone rang, answering it immediately, mostly to avoid whatever questions Eddie was about to bombard you with, you began talking to what sounded to Eddie like a client for a story you were working on. Standing, Eddie walked back to his desk, looking back at you once more as the thought of what was wrong with you plagued his mind.
You managed to get on with your work pretty well through the exhaustion. You needed to get this story done so you could get paid, maybe then you could stay in a hotel for a couple days. Opening up your browser you did a local search for the cheapest hotels you could rent.
“Going somewhere?”
Eddie caught you off guard, making you jump as you sighed and looked back at him, as he was leaned down over your shoulder. You exited out of the window quickly, but not before Eddie could clock that you were looking for hotels here.
“No, just something for work.” you lied before you looked at the clock, seeing that it was late, standing you grabbed your bag “I’m gonna go, try to get some sleep.”
Eddie watched you with a sort of exasperation, one; what would hotels have to do with your story. Two; why wouldn’t you tell him why, you always told each other everything you were working on. He watched as you entered into the elevator, knowing he had to do something.
“What are we going to do?” Venom’s voice flowed through his head. “We, are going to find out what the hell is going on” He answered as he quickly grabbed his own bag and jacket running to the staircase to catch you at the bottom.
Eddie followed you after you left work, you drove down a few streets and then parked in an empty lot. Were you working on some case he wasn’t aware of? He peaked around the corner, but spotted no one else. He watched as you seemed to move around in the inside of your car. Your phone light bouncing around. What were you doing? After a while, he noticed that you stopped moving all together. Were you...sleeping in your car? Figuring he wasn’t going to learn anything this way he decided to just confront you.
As you finally settled down in the back seat of your car you stared up at the roof, sighing, knowing you weren’t going to get any sleep again.
*knock**knock**knock*
Three quick knocks on your window made you gasp and jump as you stared out the window, seeing a figure clouded in shadow. Reaching down and into your bag you grabbed your pepper spray just in case. Leaning forward you peaked out the window, seeing Eddie leaning against the side of the car. Meeting your eyes he gave you an emotionless smile and waved at you.
You rolled your eyes and sighed as you pushed the car door open, dropping the pepper spray back into our bag “I should have known you’d follow me.” you climbed out of the car and closed the door shut, looking at him.
“What the hell is going on Y/n?” his voice was full of confusion.
You sighed before you began “I caught Michael cheating on me with his personal trainer” you glanced at Eddie to see his eyes widening in shock “And..not knowing what to do, I..left. Got everything I could out of the apartment, put it in my storage unit, and left.”
“And now you’re sleeping in your car?”
You met his eyes “I’ve got nowhere to go.” you said simply.
“What the hell do you mean you’ve got no where to go-”
You cut him off “I have no family here Eddie you know that, and I’m broke, I cant stay in a hotel until I get paid-”
This time he cut you off “No no, I mean me. I would have let you stay with me, you know that, why didn’t you come to me?”
Letting out an exasperated sigh you brought your hands to your face for a moment before straightening back up and looking at him “Because, I- I just, you told me that it wasn’t going to work out with me and Michael and I didn’t listen.”
“And what, you thought I was gonna be a dick and say I told you so?”
You nodded your head slightly “Kind of. Besides, I know how angry you and Venom get, I didn’t want to find out my boyfr- EX boyfriend got eaten.”
Eddie opened his mouth to refuse but then cocked his head in a sort of ‘you got a point’ motion. Shaking it off he took a step in front of you “That still doesn’t mean you couldn’t have come to me. I would have let you stay at my place even if you didn’t tell me why.”
“I didn’t want to be a burden, and what about Anne?” you asked quietly.
He frowned “What do you mean?”
“Well, I know you still have feelings for her and I wouldn’t want her to get the wrong idea, if I stayed over.” you met Eddies eyes and only saw confusion.
“I- uh I don’t have feelings for Anne anymore?” he said questionably “You thought I did?”
“Well yeah” you said with slight exasperation.
He scoffed, shaking his head “No, I- I don’t”
“Oh..” you trailed off for a moment “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, I just...didn’t know what to do.”
Eddie smiled sadly at you before he pulled you into his chest, hugging you tightly “Well I know now. And you are NOT staying in this car anymore okay?”
When you pulled away you nodded your head, not able to stop the moisture that clouded your eyes. “Hey hey” he said gently as he brought his hands to your face “It’s alright, you’ll be alright, I promise. You can stay with me as long as you want, you know that.”
You smiled before hugging him quickly again “Thank you Eddie.”
After following Eddie back to him place you settled down on the couch and let out a sigh as Eddie brought you some water “Are you sure you don’t want the bed?” he asked as he sat down next to you.
“No thanks Eddie, the couch is enough. I don’t want to impose too much.”
He watched you for a moment before speaking “How are you doing? With the break up? Are you sure you don’t want venom to eat him?” ‘I’d be willing’ Venom’s’ voice broke in, though obviously unheard to you.
You let out a giggle before leaning back into the couch, your body facing Eddie “I’m....alright. I mean, I’m still pissed he cheated, but honestly...I was thinking of breaking up with him anyway.” you admitted.
“You were?” he asked, clearly surprised.
“Yeah.” you nodded “I guess I should have done it before this happened. I was just...afraid, of what would happen afterwards.” You stood up from the couch as you wondered over to the window, looking out at the city “I’m not sure what to do now.”
“Hey” Eddie started as he walked over to you “Whatever it is, I’m here, and I will help in whatever way I can.” you looked back and smiled at him, almost surprised by the gentleness of his gaze as he looked at you.
Wanting to change the subject, you turned, leaning against the window sill, facing Eddie “So, when did winning Anne back not become your number one priority?”
Eddie straightened up a little bit as he seemed caught off guard by the change in topic, he rubbed the back of his neck and sighed out “I just...” he dropped his hand before making his admission “Fell for someone else along the way.”
You rose your brow in surprise, your heart hammering in your chest as you felt a rush of pain. Great, now you’d have to encourage him into another relationship you had to watch be better than yours. “Oh, uh, wh-who?”
Eddie looked at you for a moment, wondering if that change in your demeanor was out of surprise, or maybe jealousy? “Uh, no, it doesn’t matter.” He excused. He couldn’t ruin your friendship if you didn’t return his feelings, especially not now, he was all you had.
“What do you mean it doesn’t matter? You can’t just tell me that you’ve met someone else and then drop it, you’ve always told me about that stuff.”
“Yeah, well...it’s different now.” he said getting defensive
“How so?” you challenged.
“Because I’ve never had to tell you it was you!” he said quickly.
You froze “What?”
Eddie paused, opening and closing his mouth a few times, but unsure of what to say.
“It’s....me?” you questioned, unsure of if you heard him correctly.
“Look, let’s just drop it for now, you need some sleep, and I-”
“Eddie.” you cut him off. He met your eyes “Tell me.”
Letting out a quiet sigh he slumped in defeat “Yeah, yes. It’s y-you. I just, I mean. We’ve been so close for so long, best friends, and then after Anne, I started to see you as... more. And I couldn’t stop it. And I just, don’t want you to be uncomfortable, so I can, keep this to myself, because I don’t want you to feel like you should leave, because I don’t want you to, I promised that you coul-”
“Eddie” you took a step closer to him, cutting him off “Let me talk for a second.” Eddie nodded his head for you to continue “It doesn’t make me uncomfortable, it’s actually, a..relief.”
“A relief?” he questioned.
“Yeah. I mean. I...have had feelings for you for a long time. Even when you were with Anne, which I know is messed up, but that’s why I never did anything about it, and I-”
You were cut off when Eddie was suddenly pulling you into a kiss. One of his hands on the back of your head, the other around your waist pulling you closer to him to deepen the kiss. Feeling yourself melt as you leaned into him, time seemed to slow down for a while before you both pulled away breathless.
“Woah” you muttered out, still surprised.
“Woah” Eddie echoed with a smile before he brought his other hand to your face, meeting your eyes for a moment before he kissed you again. This time it only lasted a few second before he pulled away, keeping his forehead pressed against yours “This worked out a lot better than I thought it would.”
You chuckled “Yes, it did. But what does Venom think about all of it?”
Eddie paused for a second ‘I’m cool with it’ the voice said in his mind. He met your eyes before he smiled, taking your face in his hands again “He agrees with me actually, you don’t belong with anyone else but me, and he says you should stay here forever.”
“Wow, forever?” you grinned.
Eddie nodded as he smirked before pulling you into another passionate kiss, the first of many more.

Being Eddie’s best friend and Venom saving you after initially not liking you.
(For anon)
You and Eddie had been friends since college. You met while studying journalism together. The two of you had a similar attitude toward it; expose the truth at any cost. That naturally drew you to one another and you quickly grew close.
He was your 3 am, “I’m drunk, come get me,” call and you were his, “my loud ass neighbor won’t shut up, I’m coming over,” text. You knew each other’s drink orders and what was on your Netflix queues (and not just because you shared an account.)
When the symbiote latched itself to Eddie, you tried to help him as much as you could. Of course, Venom could handle the big issues they faced. But Eddie wasn’t exactly taking having an alien inhabit his body very well at first. While you tried to support him, it seemed that Venom wanted to push you away. He tried to frighten you off, wanting to keep Eddie all to himself. Although he seemed to like Anne, he didn’t care for you in the slightest.
“Am I unlikable to aliens or something?”
“Ignore him, Y/N. He’s just moody.”
“I AM NOT MOODY. YOU ARE MY HUMAN. Y/N CAN FIND THEIR OWN.“
The Carlton Drake mess affected anyone that was close to Eddie. So, like him, you were unable to work until it smoothed over. You went right back into your typical antics; going after corporations and government bodies that were hiding things from the populous and harming the planet and its people.
Your first story came from a company that was testing diseases on villagers in small countries. Naturally, that put a target on your back even after you returned home. Knowing that you were being watched, you immediately let Eddie know what was happening. He agreed to stay near you in case something happened - whether Venom liked it or not.
It was lucky for you that he did. Even with him there, cronies came after you. They managed to grab you while Eddie was distracted and haul you off. They didn’t have you for long. Feeling how scared Eddie was to lose you, Venom took over and got you out of harm’s way. He killed the thugs and tossed you over his shoulder, carrying you to safety. You expected Venom to disappear once he stopped, but he didn’t.
“Hey, uh... thank you. I thought you hated me.”
“YOU ARE CORRECT.”
“I-... come on, man. I don’t think you would’ve helped me if you really did, right? Eddie can’t make you do anything.”
