Objectum culture is mourning over your old device

My device is honestly really old but she can still run decently with a few issues but I had to get a new one because of work and my old girl is being given to a family member as a practice device... I don't really like my new one (it ended up being slightly faulty and I had to go back to the tech store to get that sorted) and I ended up crying because of how much I missed my old device :( she's still in amazing shape despite the years and I even loved the visible wear and tear of common places I touched it... it was just so special to me and I didn't realize how good I had it until I had to give her to someone else... I'm glad I can still see her sometimes but seeing her in someone else's hands makes me jealous but I can't tell anyone that or it'll look silly or questionable ToT

Do you accept vents? I live in the xreader community and I've started to notice a huge uptick in targeted comments at writers lately and I think ai (especially c.ai) has led to a lot of entitlement that people are starting to feel *really* comfortable demanding and expecting a certain catered-to labor from authors. It's to the point now where I don't know if I find joy in writing anymore. If I see one more "I wouldn't say that" comment (even on someone else's fic) I might burn my account down

Ugh, I’m so sorry that’s been happening. People tend to forget that authors writing and sharing their works for free is a gift to the community

Imagine seeing a character with dark gray roots, straight hair, and bandages and calling that a copy of you pug faced off white "albino" cat with a pink undertone and giant fake curls. You don't own the idea of being catholic. You don't own the idea of being a lesbian with religious trauma. hi! no pressure to answer this, i’m just curious about your thoughts on all the recent legislation and our country falling into the pits of fascism!

do you think it‘ll get better for us? in america at least?

a year or so ago stephen fry talked about how when he was a teenager, he discovered oscar wilde (and how his death + imprisonment were so horrible). he realized he was gay then and there, but he didn’t want to admit it to himself, he said "I was absolutely cursed if I wanted to stay in Britain, in that I would have to live a life of secrecy, shame, exile, disgrace. All the horrors, especially since gay men were viewed as disgusting, sent to prison - losing their name and their livelihood"

and that scares me. if the world was so shitty to a 16 year old stephen fry, how am i, a 16 year old trans guy, supposed to look forward to growing up? i’ve been super hopeless about the state of this country, about my future.

so, i ask again, do you think things will continue to go to shit? do you think everything will be okay?

I think that things will always be hard, and I think it's okay- healthy, even- to recognize how difficult things are and will be. And I think that they can and will also get better, even if only in some ways, and people are fighting really hard to make that happen.

I think people care about you, and will care about you, and I think you have a shot at joy in some kind of capacity, and I think there is always something worth fighting for. I think that if you try to fight for it, you will always find more joy than if you don't.

It would be silly to ignore the hard stuff, but it would be just as silly to ignore the good stuff. Everything will be okay if you fight for it, and if it's not okay, it just means you need to keep fighting. You will find moments of joy and okay-ness along the way, and that's important and good and worth fighting for as well. It'll be hard, but you can do it. And you're never fighting alone.
