Thanks to Scott "Diggs" Underwood for sharing these in this interview he did for Concept Art Empire!
I didn't see much explanation from these, but judging by the poses and dialogue, this is an early storyboard of the scenes from 'Virt-Ed-Go' when the Eds are walking down the street before spotting the tree they build Club Ed in. Eddy, for no apparent reason, is sweaty and stinky and leaving puddles.
In the aired episode, they actually walk from the opposite direction, with Eddy leading:
This page says "the tree" in the top left corner, has a scribbled out drawing of Eddy squishing Edd and Ed against his face, then several chin rubbing Edds and Eddys saying "where??..." and "Hmmm.." while Ed shows them where to find... what seems like a wooden pole he wants to steal for clubhouse material. I don't think any scene like this exists in the episode, just seems to be early concept art for how their thought process could have gone if they didn't go straight to Jonny and Plank for help.
One thing I'm gonna point out barely connected to this: I just got reminded that the correct spelling of the word is "vertigo" but the episode is titled "Virt-Ed-Go." Did they switch the vowels just because of Ed in the middle or was it a misspelling? Some sources like the DVDs spell "Vert" correctly. Weird!
Edd leads everyone to the tree house which viewers have not seen since season 1!
They could have used this set so many times, but then it ends up getting destroyed later in this episode. I guess somewhere in between the Eds nailed in steps to get up the tree. That would have been a lot easier when they were making the tree house. But, of course we wouldn’t have a great comedic episode if they did put in the steps first.
The Kankers destroyed the Eds tree house be redecorating it in season 1, but it doesn’t seem like they use it anymore.
The Kankers rarely ever leave the trailer park only to harass the Eds or the kids. They’re new to the neighborhood. I do think that their mother is a bit over protective, but she doesn’t see her girls because she is working countless hours at two of her jobs. The girls obey their mom and stay in the trailer park. We hardly ever see them leave after season 2.
Edd makes sure that Nazz gets safely up the tree.
What are you staring at Edd?
All the guy characters, except Rolf, have a crush on Nazz. The guys don’t know Nazz. Kevin supposedly knows Nazz because they’re always seen hanging out. Kevin succumbs to her looks as puberty hits forgetting the close friendship they once had. This gets on Nazz’s nerves because she wants somebody to listen to her.
EddNazz is an interesting pair, but like Eddy, Edd’s feelings for Nazz are no more in the later seasons. He does blush when speaking to her in the Halloween special and is able to have a full conversation with her without stuttering or passing out.
I am a big EddEddy shipper and my head canon is that Edd and Eddy started having feelings for once another when season 3 came along. I think that Edd is bisexual because he is still attracted to girls more then Eddy.
They’re both confused by these feelings. They’re still growing up. Edd is also very behind on the whole puberty talk. His parents are hardly a part of his life that Edd had to research ‘the birds and the bees’ talk for himself.
“Out of the way, oaf!”
Poor Edd. He tends to always get stomped or hit on by his head.
His head has already been injured enough. Edd is also seen rubbing his head where the supposed scar is. He is worried of his hat ever accidentally coming off. Ed and Eddy have already seen it. It’s honestly better for them to see it rather then the cul-de-sac kids.
They’d immediately make fun of him while Ed and Eddy never bring it up again. Eddy uses it is as part of a revenge scheme, but other then that they respect him. The kids don’t stay out from the Ed’s business.
A great example is when they encourage the Eds bickering in the season 5′s All Eds are Off. The Eds were already on the rocks but the kids act as if the Eds fighting is a show. As I have said they’re part of the reason why the Eds nearly split up.
“Overwhelming fear is not an excuse for rudeness, Rolf.”
I love Edd’s dead panned voice. Edd’s voice has gone through an evolution change. It was very scratchy throughout season 1, but then becomes high and clear. I believe the reason to be that Edd barely had anyone to talk to all those years being held like a prisoner in his room.
Edd also expects everyone to be kind. Edd has had to follow strict rules about obeying orders and being kind to all around him. Kind of ironic when his parents don’t respect Edd. They hardly want him in their lives.
But, they do care about their son. His behavior frightened them to the point where they believe something was wrong with him. They moved into a new neighborhood, possibly home schooled him for some time, and they made him play the pedal steel guitar to repress his anger.
If they did care they’d want to be a part of his life.
Edd is given a ride up on Eddy’s head into the tree house.
These two are so cute!
I think Eddy was doing this little favor for Edd either because he was tired of waiting and/or he didn’t want Edd to get hurt. Ed is out of control. He doesn’t want anything to happen to his best friend.
