Made a new friend tonight! Vespa crabro! Cutie. 💕
I think this one was a worker. Not quite as big as some of the queens I've seen before.

May 16th 2024. Evening trip to the greenbelt. Sadly, all the petals from the crabapple blossoms are now gone, but they'll be back next year!
Her majesty, the queen, appeared in my house last evening. I was delighted to capture her for a few photos, then I released her outside. European Hornet (Vespa crabro). ❤️
Added a new member to the wasp family: Vespula rufa! I'm still learning with modelling clay and I've gotten better at doing the wings. I place the wings over top of the legs now as it doesn't bend them out of shape. So far, this is my favourite member of the group!

Vespa crabro Was abit scary to go this close with the lens, cause they are quite big. But worth it, and it did not seem to mind me at all. @youpic_macro @youpic #macro #vespa #vespacrabro #denmark #insect #summer #canon #60mm #nature #wildlife #outside #youpic #picoftheday #photooftheday #instagood https://www.instagram.com/p/CSKr1mLKUoO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
