Reconstruction of carcharodontosaurian theropod Lusovenator santosi from the Late Jurassic of Portugal. A partial skeleton of this animal, including vertebrae, rib fragments, and parts of the pelvic girdle and legs, was described in 2019. The dinosaur was assigned to a new genus in 2020. The remains were found in the Lourinhã Formation, famous for its diverse Late Jurassic fauna. Lusovenator is the oldest genus of carcharodontosaurian from Laurasia. Its name means "hunter from Lusitania" (the name of an ancient Roman province located on the site of Portugal). I made this drawing last year, but I decided to post it now, correcting small details.
