A sharp inhale, then Marilyn would be sitting on the side of his bed, poised to stand. "I wasn't expecting you over. Is something wrong?"

Vex, you better get away from the water, or you're going to get dragged in, (Or at least, Marilyn will try.)

At first? Nothing. He'd want to, even though he'd realize that it didn't make sense--Vex was gone, the stone wouldn't hear him, but for comfort purposes, maybe. But he wouldn't. He'd just end up standing in front of it for hours and cry.

After a while, he'd manage to just say a handful of things. Plans he's working on, how his life's been going. And that Marilyn misses him. Every time, no matter how many years pass, how infrequent visits become. I miss you.

*Maddie was lost. she couldn't find Big Brother's magical trail, it ended at the edge of a big building she couldn't get into. She searched around the outside of the building, but she wasn't used to the city, and all the buildings looked the same. One wrong turn around a wall, and now she couldn't find the way back to the first building. She huddled up against the bricks and sniffled.*

Quickly move him to a safe place and clean him up! If he's unconscious, just that. If he's still awake, he's smart; have him help.

Even if Marilyn's awake, he might not be able to help. He'd had his share of beatings, but this...this is worse than usual.

Give them both deeply disappointed looks. Marilyn, for not declining, and the stranger, for being an ass and infringing on 'his' territory.

Vex wouldn’t have to worry for long. Marilyn might play a little, but eventually the stranger would find themselves turned around, puzzles, and probably incredibly embarrassed after he cheerfully listed all the reasons he wouldn’t pick them.
