'you're staring.' vi could feel xaden's eyes on her as they arrived far too late for this ball, but honestly, it wasn't as if any of their friends would be shocked by that. considering everything they had just been through, vi figured they deserved at least one night to be normal. the beating of the wings echoed in her mind, mirroring the beating of her heart as she stared into the sky.. violet should've been terrified, should've ran in fear at the sight of a dragon so close to her and yet.. all she could do was stare. stare and feel. it all hits her like a tidal wave, sent her way by the wind of the dragons wings, and gods, for a moment, she wishes she could forget it all again. and all at once, all she sees is red. she's going to fucking kill him. she's going to fucking save him but she is going to rip him apart first. first she just needed to fucking find him in this godsforsaken village.

"that's why you're following my lead." vi said, having not listened to any of tairn's protests as she pulled him out onto the dance floor with her. never in a million years would she have thought she'd be dancing with her dragon at some ball, but this place had a habit of surprising her like that. she placed one hand on his shoulder, moving to guide his as she continued down the bond. 'put one hand on my hip, and take my other one in yours. then we're just going to move with the music.'
"fen." violet was already on edge around him, considering everything that had just happened.. she was not looking to piss her father in law off a second time, especially not in the middle of a party with the whole city in attendance. "i don't want any trouble, not tonight, please. if you want to stab me again, can we just wait till the morning?"

she had barely sat up, her head still absolutely spinning as she registered where she was.. or where she wasn't really. having expected to wake up somewhere you were meant to sleep, and not some dingy alley, her joints popping as she adjusted. how long had she been out? it wouldn't be her first time fainting but.. this had felt different.. vi looked around, eyes landing on a large, almost looming figure next to her, red eyes meeting her own-- "woah, alright, did you... did you see what happened?" maybe he had just found her like this and was waiting to see if she was alright.. she didn't need to panic, despite the way her stomach dropped at their eyes meeting.

"sorry, can i just borrow your phone quickly? i think i lost mine and i need to just call my sister to make sure they're alright." she hadn't seen her phone since she fainted, and vi's mind was spinning for what could have happened, wondering if someone might have taken it if it had fallen from her pocket. "i'll be out of your hair soon, i promise."

she had to bury everything down right now, focus on just gathering all of their allies back together, and for some fucking reason, that always lead her right back to dain.. though, she should probably tell him the truth, to let him know that this whole situation wasn't working... but a horseback ride in the middle of town was not the place to do it. she had realized she was so lost in her mind, she didn't hear what he asked. "i'm sorry, i didn't hear you over the ride-- what did you ask?"
