awhile back you led me to discover that i had my Scorpio (balsamic) Moon/Mercury/Pluto AND Libra Mars in the Via Combusta. (not my Scorp Sun, tho, which is at 26 deg lol.) you mentioned it's traditionally considered "cursed" and i've read some not-nice things. i've had some considerable emotional turmoil in my time, but i've tried to lean on my Sag Rising/Venus and Jupiter in Aries house to try to bring in faith/optimism (my chart is a bucket with everything in 1st-thru-10th and then my Jupiter in 4th). do you have any advice for these 'dark' energies? thank you so much! 💖

well traditionally yeah but also a lot of traditions are pretty goofy and i think this one has some religious/patriarchal baggage along with it. i think the via combusta "dark" energy is a sort of wild feminine magnetism (whether you are a feminine person or not) that our present society frowns upon. view those vibes as your magic powers. a busy via combusta means you're a "witch" - you can do anything. you're not the falsely accused women who got executed for it, you're the real deal. how you channel your specific vibes with those planets into that sort of power is up to you but for me, i'm a via combusta rising/1st house and i find that it's like casting a convenient glamour over myself whenever i need it. my power comes out in how i look (other things too from other sources) and seem to other people - a penetrating gaze, an outfit, a strategic smile. it'll likely be other things for you, you will have to find them, but i hope this helps! also great work using your jupiter and sagittarius that way!!

Putin's Via Combusta: a) Combusted Planets in 12H

I have to confess it was pretty intriguing getting my hands onto Putin's chart. I mean, he's got not one, no two but four lovely planets, plus his ascendant, scattered through Via Combusta in 12H and 1H. That must be sth, right?

But tbh, what first got my attention was his combusted Saturn and Neptune in the 12th. Well, I'm not 100% sure an exalted Saturn in Libra can be combusted - don't forget i'm a newbie, pls bear with me, here! actually that’s about a Saturn in its chariot, as an exalted planet cannot get combusted - so I guess i shouldn't look for an abusive father figure, though I'm pretty positive his NKVD past made him a bit strict, to say the least. I'm not sure if I should look for an absent father either, given Putin's palpable affection in his descriptions, as well as the Cancer / Leo semisextile of the 1st and 4th house rulers. His father did not die young, so here goes that scenario too. Saturn could also stand for his grandfather, but what does a cook do in the 12H?

I understand that I could just get away with it saying his ego, along with secretive yet diplomatic mannerisms, totally dismantle the way he communicates (Saturn ruler of 3H) and enjoys himself (Neptune ruler of 5H), or sth along these lines - interpretations are NOT my strong suit -. That appears to be quite valid but let's try to go a bit deeper. It's the 12th house afterall.

We find the ruler of the 12H in the 1H. Putin looks always sad; check. His political enemies affect the way he presents himself; goes without saying. But there must be more to that. Some kind of hidden sorrow shaping his outlook on life.

And boom; Putin may have been a lonely child (ruler of 5H in 12H) but technically not an only one, as he’s actually the third child his parents brought to life. Both of his brothers (represented by the 3H and 5H respectively), died as infants a tragic death and his mother's grief (Sun as ruler of 10H in 12H) could be what motivated him into acquiring his current status and leadership position. There must be sth going on with that Chiron in the 3H too.

What I also loved here, is that Capricorn (3H cusp) happens to be the Sun sign of Russia, while Putin’s North node is in Aquarius end of 3H=4H?. Again, I'm a newbie, so I'm not sure if the NN, being retrograde per se, follows Ptolemy's rules, and I won't go in there.

One last thing: his father's family involvement with a political party (Aquarius 4H: same as mine) influenced his belief system (4H ruler in 9H). Surprise, surprise!

the “fiery way”

this is from 15 degrees of libra to 15 of scorpio. that happens to be basically exactly my first house... so i am fond of this little piece of sky.

it’s also where the moon has been lately. it is actually just leaving the via as i type this. so, how it affects you personally can be assessed to some extent by considering how you have felt these past couple of days.

historically it has something of a malefic influence. in some horary, the reader will consider the entire chart unreadable or the outcome of the question to be disastrous.

but personally i think this is quite a misunderstanding! it’s deep, and immersive, and yes, moody... it’s witchy and spiritual and that is why it’s been cast in an evil light. 

in truth however i consider it to be the prime region of the chart for bringing will to fruition, seeing the truth (yes! that is often uncomfortable and unpleasant! malefic?!), and the moon here is when i love most to do any form of divination.
