Komi 403: Tales From the Summer Festival

Final thoughts:

It was a great chapter. I loved seeing all of the various friend groups enjoying themselves.

Seeing Tadano have so many friends eager to spend time with him brings a tear to my eye, after how poorly he was treated by his classmates (and the school at large) in year 1. Gone are the days where my son is mistreated simply due to his proximity to Komi! My crops are flourishing.

I'm not so much of a fan of the whole "is Komi unpopular?" thing though. Oda can drop that and I wouldn't miss it.

I'm glad I was able to see Nakanaka and Yamai again, though it's a shame that they didn't really interact at all with each other... At least Kishi had some time to shine with her their little battle.

The Musclebound Yakisoba segment with Katai and Kometani was nice, and I like how Oda kept referencing it with the running crowds... although I'm still confused why the vice principal was referred to as the head teacher. Was that a translation mistake? Or was the wrong term used in the original Japanese...? Because I'm like 99% certain the homeroom teacher from year 1 is the current head teacher...

The Naruse and Ase scene was simply peak. Naruse really shined. He's a good boy, see?! And Ase, quit worrying about your sweat! It's fine!!!

The Isagi, Katou, and Sasaki floating heads was a nice touch.

It was nice seeing the snowball fight kids again. It's just a shame they didn't see Komi while they were there. I hope the girls got those prizes they wanted in the end.

Kawai meeting the Onemine's was pretty funny. I wonder how many times Kawai has introduced herself as Tadano and Komi's fiancée so far... The perfectly timed butt slap was great.

Sugakiya... She's cute. Really cute. You think she actually has romantic feelings for Kawai? Or was it just her jealousy getting the better of her? Hm...

Hiki!!! It was really nice to see Hiki out and about again with her friends... She's really out of her element, but she's doing it! She's out of the house! ...And she didn't throw up!

All in all, and excellent chapter. I loved it. More like this!

Vice Principal Dwayne Murney, also the school’s former wrestling coach, considers himself to be the big man on campus.

I can imagine someone wrestling with him and it ending with that someone pinned under his big body after a body splash. Or perhaps they get pinned under his butt as he sits and scoots on them for that touch of humiliation. Maybe even have the coach blast some gas on them for good measure. Oooh, now that I’d love to see.

That being said...take him down, Mr. Wolfe!
