Heated Rivalry Vid Recs

I'm an oldbie who can't get used to the short one minute edits that are floating around these days, so most of these are pretty long.

The melancholy of Sleeping At Last always makes me emotional and I just love these two character studies for Shane and Ilya:

Costume Party (VidUKon 2026 vidshow)

I did a write up of the show I VJed at VidUKon this year over on DW, and I wanted to share the playlist here as well! The theme was Costume Party, and I was interested in taking that in every direction I could — not just vids that celebrated pretty clothes, but vids that really played with identity. What does it mean to put on a costume? What do we learn or reveal about ourselves as we play with outward expression? But, also, I did want this vidshow to feel a bit like a party, fun and energetic.

Vid Rec Meme #5: Memorable Lyric Match

This wonderful ode to breaking the Watergate story (AO3 link) by @findmeinthealps: "It was against the law!" 👀👀 LOL :) I also admire how the vid so clearly casts characters in the song to be characters in the film: Julio = Bernstein, Rosie the Queen of Corona = Nixon, the radical priest = their secret informant, and papa = their editor.

Eurovision Vidshow @ VidUKon 2026

I again VJ-ed the Eurovision vidshow at this year’s @vidukon and have some amazing fanvids to share! The show is all about showcasing vids with a European slant, be that source, vidder, music or vibes. I had lots of ideas this year that didn’t make it into the final selection, so I’m already looking forward to curating next year’s show!

The 2026 playlist included a Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo premiere made by @naye-et-cetera (thank you!) – always special to have a premiering vid in the show.
