#JackedKirby - The Twins ala Kirby & Colletta !!! 💥💥💥 When Jack moved from Marvel to DC in 1970 it seemed like he did so to explore other avenues/artistic ventures he hadn’t been allowed to pursue while at Marvel. Even though they may have been the thought early on, editorial staff and decision makers quickly put the kibosh on these new-founded ideas and encourage Kirby to retread tropes and stories he had done before. Maybe there was a way to do both? 💥💥💥 One idea Jack had was to explore ADULT periodical series, things that could be sold in traditional bookstores and share more adult themed storylines & characters. Only one issue of In The Days of the Mob & Spirit World (Kirby’s new take on gangsters and horror comics) made it to print. They also planned a new Romance title, but instead of accentuating the virtues of young love they pointed out love’s shortcomings... the series was to be entitled True Life Divorce (or True Divorce Cases) And we’re going to contained romance stories that matched the “free love” movement of the late 60s/early 70s in its format!!! 💥💥💥 This page comes from a story called “The Twins”, which is a tale about a twin sister who is much more sexually aggressive then her twin.. so she moves into her sisters home and repeatedly seduces her sisters husband (unbeknownst to the husband!). But this page is really special because it is only partially inked by Vinnie Colletta, so it is one of the rare cases where we can see Colletta’s inks and Kirby’s original pencils existing in the same space! This page along with much of the rest of the book were never inked... only the pencilled pages exist as a testament to what could have been! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #TrueDivorceCases #TrueLifeDivorce #RomanceComics #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #70sComics #ComicsOfThe70s #VinceColletta https://www.instagram.com/p/BtOyXw0BPcV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=16ab48fj20m00
