Oh, is it true, it's still worth it to try?
That the souls of two people combined at first sight?

Just discovered Vincent Lima songs and can't help but think of Dead Boy Detectives.

vincent lima - "the only thing" // dana scully - the x-files
In the name of the father (Hozier), son (Noah Kahan) and the holy ghost (Vincent Lima)
I don't think I will ever be able to shut up about this album. To Love A Thing That Fades by Vincent Lima is quite possibly the most incredible album I've ever heard. It is an absolutely stunning retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice, in a way that focuses only on them and their relationship. It's looking at love and loss and grief, but also looking at hope, and how the refusal to let go is something other than a failing.
The artist himself refers to this as a "one skip album" and apologizes for The End of Eurydice, and while that song made me absolutely sob at an album for the first time in my life I politely disagree. It's a no skip album. I'm having a hard enough time trying to think of just one song to recommend to try and get you to listen to the whole thing, to try and tell you to skip any of it is unimaginable. So if you have 55mins and a box or two of tissues, please, please go listen to this.
The Only Thing Left has my absolute favorite imagery, but I will go with showing you Dance Here Slowly. Over a year later, the bridge still gives me goosebumps. The line "If it only lasts a minute / I'll make certain that you're in it" kicks off the last minute of the song, and it gives you a look into just how thoughtful and intentional this whole thing is.
Every time I listen to it, this song makes me think of Post-Mockingjay Everlark and I feel like I could cry (in a good way).
Just read some of those lyrics (almost every line in the song connects with everlark’s story):
Sittin' unscathed on a pile of ash
She just smiled and put out the last flare on her dress
I surely thought we'd be burnt like the rest
Could it be that we're next or the only thing left?
I've watched every tragedy, waiting my turn
Now, I'm wasting my courage, just fearing the worst
'Cause, you stood and held me as everything burned
Now, I'm one day removed from the worst day on earth
The ashes remind me of the ashes of District 12 that they returned to. And ‘you stood and held me while everything burned’ makes me think of the fan theory that Peeta is the one who saved Katniss from the double bombs. Now here’s the chorus:
So, take both my hands
Spin me around
I'm real in your arms
That's enough for right now
We've been through the past
We're still here somehow
You made it all real
When you said it out loud
Here’s the next verse:
We turned and we walked toward the chirp of the birds
As a droplet of rain found a home in the dirt
Oh, life tried to teach me it only gets worse
But, I met you just after the end of the world
There's spring in the distance, our backs to the smoke
And, my soul stirs so gently, it blends in with yours
We stood here together while everything burned
Now, we're one day removed from the worst day on earth
Spring in the distance-Peeta came back on the first day of spring! Birds chirping, a symbol of hope and peace! And the ‘I met you just after the end of the world’ is totally something Katniss would say about Peeta!
And here’s the final verse, which is symbolic of that ‘so after’ moment in my opinion:
I don't care if we're next in the morning
Or the only thing left in the room
'Cause, I finally trust that you love me
And I finally think I love you
At the end of the story, both Katniss and Peeta can finally be confident in their love for each other, and the fact that they are loved in return. Peeta is sure of himself again after the hijacking, and Katniss can finally allow herself to feel and give love because the both of them are safe now. There are no more Hunger Games or maniacal presidents plotting their demise. There’s no looming threats to prepare for. They don’t have anyone to take care of but themselves now. Ahh! I just love it so much!
Anyway, please listen to this song. It has such a beautiful melody and is really lovely to listen to:
I need everyone to go listen to Vincent Lima. especially if you’re a writer. trust me you will not regret it
