This Chapeaux is made by the M.C. Lilley and Company of Columbus, Ohio. The M.C. Lilley and Company existed under that name from 1923 to 1925 so it was easy to determine the time period the Chapeaux was made. The M.C. Lilley Company bought out the Ames Sword Company in 1925, moving their equipment to Columbus. The M.C. Lilley and Company changed their name later in 1925 to The Lilley Company, and again in 1931 to the Lilley-Ames Company.
