Found a display of an old vintage Hitachi washing machine with a manual wringer. Which brings me to the subject of washing clothes in Japan. A friend from California was surprised that the majority of Japanese use cold water and dry their clothes on a clothesline outside. A lot of the Japanese homes have washing machines (not the new fangled drum type ones where the door opens on the side) that are top loaders and you do your laundry with cold water. Quite a few people recycle their bath water for the wash cycle (remember we only soak in the water) which I find good for water-conservation. Yes, I think my clothes are fine washing in cold water (at least I am hoping I donโt stink, but I might just be used to it). However my friend goes even further and still uses a twin tub washing machine. A tub for washing her clothes and the other is a wringer with a timer. I think they may still sell them but she just loves the idea that you can wash your clothes in the same sudsy water until the water gets dirty. I think she may have a point there though. And how is your laundry done in most home in your country? . #vintagewashingmachine #washingmachine #coldwash #actionablesustainability #coldwash #reduceemissions #savemoney #sustainableliving #sustainability #climatechange #gogreen #laundry #japaneselaundry https://www.instagram.com/p/B6Osq0CHsEV/?igshid=m8bifoe8pctd
