She <3 Aster is a black nonbinary autistic medic onboard a spaceship set up like the antebellum South. She has her own secret lab. She takes care of people even though she has no social graces. She mouths off. She makes hrt from scratch. She struggles over whether to conform and survive or resist and burn up. I think enjoyers of Apothecary Diaries and Murderbot should read this book because I love Aster so much and more folks here need to appreciate her!!!!

diggory graves: 7/10. they’re a little confused, but they’ve got the spirit. their hugs are maybe a tad to tight, and it’s a cold hug, but they’re pretty solid at hugging.

nikignik: 1/10. while i think their voice and the words they say feel like a nice warm hug, he does not have a physical body and is probably more than a bit confused by the whole hugging thing. that being said, i would still like to hug them.

percy reed: 4/10. yes, he’s technically a ghost which definitely knocks a few points off because hugging a ghost is a bit difficult. look, i don’t really have an explanation. 4/10. that’s all.

violet keene: 11/10. you know those hugs you get from grandmas that are long and tight and warm and just very good? yeah, that’s violet. good hugs. very good hugs.

bern keene: 4/10. i may be biased in this ranking because bern scares me and i would be too terrified to ever ask her for a hug. look, i have no other explanation. she’s scary.
