Had he been any lesser used to abrupt noises he would have startled at the sudden interjection from the First Paladin. In all honesty, he hadn’t thought she heard his last comment, which was murmured in self-reflection more than anything else. Though as he listened to her speak, he found himself enlightened. Perhaps if more from Belori were of her mindset there was hope for those beyond the territories of Ciravus. A string of possibilities arose at the prospect, ones he would humor at a later time.
His own arsenic green eyes regard her in a similar manner before acknowledging the proffered hand. A quick nod was given as he clasped it firmly in return, mindful of his nails.
“Furū Itaya. I hadn’t meant to be heard, but it is encouraging to hear that your views seem to align with my own. If only more could embrace it…but I digress, Belori is no doubt fortunate to have one such as yourself in their ranks.”
’ You can’t change the past. ’
“Well, certainly not with that attitude.” She shrugged the comment off, unperturbed by the weight it carried. Had she seen the world in anything other than rose-colored glasses, that statement would have frustrated her, perhaps even make her rethink the goal she had dedicated her life to.
However, such negative words couldn’t dwindle the confidence she had in her magic or the belief that the dead could be reanimated exactly as they once were. Anyone who tried to crush those beliefs was wasting their time. They were all she had and she would cling onto them until definite proof that her work was a lost cause was presented to her.
If she lost her hope, she would lose herself to despair. Because if there was anything Gaila was not prepared for, it was the pain that came with the reality that she was, and would always remain, entirely alone.
“I know what I’m doing, so don’t look so serious! It’ll be fine.”
It had to be.
’ Nice try, but only the king can do that. ’
♥ “...Pardon?” His response was almost immediate, calculated with his brows furrowing together slightly in question. Quincy did not think he was asking much, here, but perhaps he had misunderstood the situation-- maybe things were more involved than he assumed. “In that case, what would you have me do?” Or, perhaps, he was overthinking again. Missed the joke. Something.

“Oh wow, look at you! You’re probably the tallest person I’ve ever seen! Not that there’s anything wrong with being tall, but wow.” A wide grin stretched the mages lips as she briskly approached the woman, peering up at her with glimmering eyes. She held her hands together behind her, a faint hissing emitting from her back. "I don’t mind being small, but I’d give anything to be as tall as you for a day! I can’t imagine the sights I’d see.”
She tapped a finger against her chin, losing herself in thought, her initial goal completely forgotten for the time being in favor of making conversation. “I wonder if there’s a plant that causes growth when ingested. If there is, then surely there’s one that shrinks you too...” She shook her head and rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly. “Sorry, sorry! I’ll worry about that later. First things first!” A hand is held out to the elf, revealing the cause of the aforementioned hissing.
Tiny, slithering snakes had replaced all of her fingers, several of which were far from happy to be waved around so carelessly. This is what she got for getting distracted in the midst of preforming a curse. Although, the end result wouldn’t have been much better even if she had done it right. Instead of snakes, they would have become lobster claws, which she had attempted to create out of mere curiosity. “I need you to point me towards the nearest pet shop! I’ve been traveling for a while now and haven’t come across one yet... but I can’t just get rid of these little guys, you know? They can’t survive on their own.”

’ Does this look infected to you? ’
“As a matter of fact, it does!” The mage chirped, clapping her hands together as she gave the woman’s wound a once-over. “What did you do? Did you fall? Were you stabbed? No, no, this is definitely not deep enough to be a stab wound…” A thoughtful hum slipped from her lips, dainty palms turning the infected arm around a few times. To be honest, the mage wasn’t quite sure what to make of the festering infection laid before her, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t assist with curing it. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily for the woman, Gaila could always make time for some experimenting, especially if the end result could help someone.
“Not to worry though. I’m sure there’s something that can be done about this…” Her voice trailed off, eyes alight with a dangerous glimmer. “We’ll just have to go through some trial and error! I have a book right here with remedies and such, so I’ll just try everything until something works! That okay with you?”
