Our new exhibit, "RIPPLE: Cloth, Community, Connectivity" explores the different contexts of textiles in terms of their effect on social interaction.
One section of the exhibit is dedicated to "The Monument Quilt", which is a program that is dedicated to helping victims of rape and abuse heal from their experiences. The program aims to accomplish its mission through a nationwide tour, quilt making workshops, and a display of these quilts in Washington, D.C.
As a part of our exhibit, there are quilt squares that visitors can write on messages of support for victims of rape and abuse.
In addition, there will be a quilt making workshop on June 19, 2014 from 7-9pm in the Kaplan Gallery (2nd Floor), as well as an opening reception for the exhibit on June 20, 2014 from 7-9pm. Both events are free to attend.

VisArts welcomes artists ages 18 – 25 to submit their application for our first Gen-Y exhibit in our Gibbs Street Gallery from June 27th – July 6th 2014.
Gen-Y is an opportunity for young emerging artists to showcase their artwork in a professional art gallery. Work will be juried into the show by Jack Devine, Principal Partner of Artists Circle Fine Art.
Each artist can submit artwork no larger than 40 x 40 inches. Multiple pieces can be submitted as long as they fit within the 40 x 40 inch space. Artwork can be in any media. There are a limited number of pedestals available for 3-dimensional work. VisArts cannot provide any technology for digital projection or screen presentation.
Online applications are due by June 15, 2014, 11:00 pm at visartscenter.org. Please keep in mind that submission does not guarantee acceptance.
After submitting the online application, your artwork should be dropped off at VisArts during the following dates: June 23rd, June 24th, from 12-5 pm or June 25th 8 -10 am. Jack Devine will jury the show and you will be notified by email of acceptance. If your piece does not make it into the show, you will be notified to pick up your artwork on June 26th 12-5 pm.
All artwork must be ready to hang (framed, wired or pushpins). Well-crafted presentation is required.
Application Deadline: June 15 2014, 11:00 PM *Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Application materials submitted by mail or hand delivery must be received in our administrative offices (3rd floor).
