Down the rabbit hole I go: All the Visoreds are based off of 1960's-1970's musicians.

See here and here for me losing my mind over realizing who Rose and Shinji were modeled off of. Based on that strong evidence that Kubo just really likes superstar musicians from the 60s-70s era that were internationally popular (or even had cult-followings in Japan), here I go:

Jimi Hendrix (1960's-1970) is Love Aikawa. American Rock and Roll. Jimmy didn't quite have sideburns like that, that was more Chuck Berry, but come on. That's clearly an homage to Jimi.

Robert Plant (1970s, lead singer for Led Zepplin) is Rose Otoribashi. Northern European Heavy Metal. As discussed in the linked posts, this is just so freaking obvious I'm not gonna waste time arguing for it.

David Bowie (primarily 1960s era) is Shinji Hirako. European Glam Rock (but he did EVERYTHING, let's be real). Shinji likes jazz, which Bowie also enjoyed. Bowie was also known for being a fashion chameleon, as is Shinji. @reveeria has done about a million pictures at this point of Shinji based on Bowie photos, so clearly I'm blind for not seeing it sooner.

Barbara Streisand (1960s-1970s era) is Mashiro Kuna. She had a short bob, as well as messy curly hair on occasion. She was an American Pop singer. She's also one of the most decorated actresses/musicians in history, she was pretty popular in Japan, and she was by her own admission "a wild child" and a non-conformist.

Joni Mitchell is Lisa Yadomaru. (1960s-1970s era). Canadian/American folk singer who actually has a huge cult following in Japan. (Free link here). She also exposed tons of leg, was once told by John Lennon her music was a result of "over-education", and sometimes wore glasses/more school-girlish outfits.

Debbie Harry, from Blondie, is Hiyori Sarugaki. (1970s) An American punk rock band with four guys and a girl as the lead. She's even got the spiky lower lashes.

This dynamic isn't familiar at all, huh?

Oh, and she was short, blonde, and angry. Bonus points, Blondie was MASSIVELY popular in Japan. Her hair is about the right length to match if it was up in pigtails too (let's be real, no one but Harley Quinn is pulling those off IRL).

Annnnnd this is where I run out of steam. I haven't placed Kensei or Hachi yet.

I want to say Kensei is Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols because of the asthetic/piercing/short hair, but I'm not sold on it. Hachi, I have no idea.

Have a bonus Billy Idol/Grimmjow. Kubo LOVES his 60s-70s rock stars.

I will caveat, I don't think this necessarily indicates the MUSICAL GENRES each Visored enjoys. David Bowie is cool, but he was never a jazz musician, and Shinji was recently confirmed to be super into Gypsy Jazz, specifically Django Reinhardt. (Thank you @my-my-my for the screenshot!)

Q: Hirako listens to a lot of jazz. What's his favorite song, or what does he listen to frequently?

A: Django Reinhardt's Minor Swing.

So based on the ones we know for sure (Rose/Shinji) it seems like the visual inspiration can vary from the character's personal likes in music.

ANYHOO, sorry for the LONG ramble. All this just makes me immensely happy.

EDIT: I would like to point out that this entire 8 hours of research got kicked off by hearing 3 bars of music on a TV show, hunting down the song, and going "Who the heck is Robert Plant, I should listen to this guy..."

Quick piece of young Shinji and young Kensei in their early days, since I've seen a lot of people group these two of the Visoreds together in particular— in terms of 'age', that is. Look at them, standing around on night watch. Kensei's in his jammies, even.

[Still feel like Shinji's older, though. Btw, fun fact: Kensei's 69 tattoo stands for one of the kanji in his last name (6) and him being the captain of the Ninth Division (9), hence why he doesn't have the second number to his tattoo yet here.]
