body terms to use for canidae. dog / wolf heavy. not everything translates perfectly.

body hair -> pelt, coat

chest hair -> ruff, bib

head hair -> fur

hair at the back of the neck -> scruff

long hair that comes down in front of the shoulders & chest -> mane

mouth & nose -> muzzle, snout

lips -> flews

teeth -> fangs

arms -> front legs

wrists -> pasterns

hands -> front paws

nails -> claws

legs -> hind legs

ankles -> hocks

feet -> back paws

foot soles & palms -> paw pads

Vivterm, according to the coining post by clergyghoul, viv is a prefix that means life, terms to describe body parts or parts of your life to disconnect humanity from you. (this is just a general flag for anyone that use vivterms in general.)

some personal examples because we need a excuse to talk about ourselves. because we are physically an android, we dont have a ‘brain’; instead, inside our head is a processor. we have things on the side of our head that may look like ‘ears’ but instead they are audio receptors. how we see this universe is not through ‘eyes’ but through optics instead. make sense yeah

fun lil list of some of the things ive been incorporating into my vocabulary to make how i refer to myself and my body and how i go about life more species affirming

front/hind paws instead of hands/feet (alternatively ill use handpaws/feetpaws)

paw pads instead of palms/soles of feet

fur instead of hair

claws instead of nails

fangs instead of teeth

snout to refer to the nose/mouth area of my face

get off my tail instead of get off my ass

losing my bark instead of losing my voice

going to the vet/groomer instead of going to the doctor/hair stylist

saying dog/puppy/pup when referring to myself in the third-person

When I talk about wanting to have pups as a therian, I don't like to use the terms rut, heat, or estrus; I am asexual and largely do not experience sexual desire, drive, arousal, etc. When I do its almost never for breeding but for dominance instead, if that makes sense?

I do expect some kind of heat cycle to come back once I fully return to a physical canine form permanently, but right now I just want pups of my own in passing regardless if I have to mate with someone. (And the only someone I'd like to mate with isn't in the same world as I.)

Saying 'nonhuman baby fever' instead is a mouthful, and its hard to read. I suffer from something called Hyperlexia, so when I write I try to dumb down my language to an acceptable 'casual' degree. It's something I have to consciously do, And 'nonhuman baby fever' is unnecessarily long for what it conveys, in syllables, individual letters, and words.

So I've started to use the words 'pup fever' and 'litter fever' in its place. Short, easy to read, gets the message across, nonhumans and humans alike can understand the concept I'm describing. If needed, the words can be switched to 'cub fever' 'kit fever' 'foal fever' so on and so forth.

I'm cross-posting this to the misceverse community because I feel as if these shouldn't be nonhuman-specific words.
