When I saw the prompt for Day 13 of MerMay, ‘Alien’, Voltron sprung to mind almost immediately.

Now some of you may be thinking “What the heck do mermaids have to do with a giant combining lion robot?”, here’s the deal: In the beginning of Season 2 of Voltron: Legendary Defender, the main group get separated and spread out across the galaxy. Lance(pictured bottom) and Hunk, the Blue and Yellow Lion pilots, end up stuck on a near frozen planet where they encounter a kingdom of merpeople unknowingly controlled by a creature called the Baku through their food. It’s thanks in part to Plaxum(pictured top) that they could find out the truth and the kingdom didn’t end up fish food.

Since Lance saw himself as somewhat of a playboy early in the series,I figured he’d take a selfie with Plaxum before heading back to rejoin the group.

Plaxum: I, um... I don’t know where this came from or who’s asking... B-but it;s pretty common knowledge at this point, so I guess it’s okay. In order to make the Castle of Lions more accessible to my people, as well as any other species that depended on water. Since the Castle of Lions is at the center of the Coalition, after all, a lot of varying people from varying planets are going to need to be accommodated.

That and a lot of planets’ have had people branching out and staying on Pollux, ever since it was declared the Coalition’s new capital. Some refugees are still on Olkari, but they’ve been spreading between the two planets since construction on Pollux began.

Oh! I also have a chair for areas that are unreachable with the waterways. It was designed by Slav before the waterways were constructed.
