We’ve made it to the double digits, so i figured I’d do more talking on this one than art, mainly cause i didnt have time to do a full peice this year forgive me mr.toby fox in the sky-
But undertale! The game that inspired pretty much everything else I’d make in life!!
I did not start out as big of an artist as i am today, honestly i did lots of doodles and stuff like… once a week before undertale. So posting art wasn’t even a thought in the brain. 2015 comes around i believe i knew about Undertale, saw a few things, eventually deep dived into it and boy oh boy was i obsessed. I made my own little doodle fanart stuff on my own, but the first post i ever made was in 2019. Still just a wee lad i was a lil nervous, so i only wanted to post stuff other people knew about, not the random other stuff i did. Undertale was pretty much the only thing.
I know there’s the ‘sketchiversary’ going around, but i never posted my sketches back then cause it was deviantart and posting EVERYTHING that i made at the time was a pain. A huge pain.
So you can see the first things i posted below! I hate it! It’s so old and painful to look at but the progress I’ve made is cool! AAAH! (I’ll also continue with talks below)
I usually only did traditional art back then, but i dunno i guess i wanted to feel professional or something so i went over the traditional stuff and made it digital, that quickly faded and i went back to just traditional.
After these, i wanted share fanart of other creators i liked, aka undertale aus because, what did you expect me to like other things besides undertale back then???
I posted more and i dont know. Originally i only wanted to post my art to free up storage space, cause i liked to save my art somewhere so i can remember it if i ever lost it. But the more i posted i guess the social aspect of it kinda pushed me to do more. Twas a thrill i tell you. I got more excited with the idea of drawing and making stuff since i could share it now. It made it fun. And so I made more than my usual once a week thing i was doing before.
And THEN the digital age came along when I got to the point where I wanted to make comics of all the theories i was getting based on either undertale or said aus. Twas the day I decided i wanna do my own thing. I originally tried doing them all traditionally, but the page size was weird and i had the big fat sharpie to fill in all the empty space that was quickly running out of juice, and so i decided to switch over to digital, despite terrible i felt it was before.
And now pretty much everything i do is digital.
I loved the comic so much, mainly due to the story telling aspect, which wasn’t something i thought I’d like.
Haven’t finished the comic. But thats mainly cause after i made that au/idea i thought of MORE aus/ideas. And so I’d add on to those ideas, and then go back to the other one and I LOVED it.
Left behind, void gang, and bygones be bybones quickly become my beloveds. My new obsession. My RAAAAGGRRHHHRWGAAARRAAAAAAARAAFFAGGGHH!!!!! I LOVE THEM SO M—
Making those characters (especially the monsters) inspired the whole species making thing. Making new kinds of monsters or just monsters built off of other canon ones.
One of the random ideas i had in mind i found the lore to be getting a little too far from undertale, so i decided to put it all on some random guy i made a bit prior, and then i started looking at the little things i did outside of undertale and merged that and added onto it to make my next dearly beloved and i think technically my first full on original universe, dynaton. Aka my new beloved and golden child.
Basically everything i do is because of the itty bitty game. And if it hadn’t been created i probably wouldn’t even be pursuing the arts.
It gave me something to work with and pushed me in this direction, and i couldn’t be more thankful of that.
To sum it all up, undertale made me try to draw more. Then pushed me to social world. Then pushed towards comics and story building and character building. Then pushed me into digital arts. Which then spiraled into everything else like animations and writing and branching out and etc etc
fun fact did you know that most of the guys I’ve made into main characters come from my brains idea of papyrus? Specifically.. well.. papyrus. And then solune and smokescreen. They’re all sorta kinda isolated, eager and confident, with some level of occasional self doubt. They’re not completely the same, but similar. Don’t know why my brain latched on to that concept but now they’re here.
Undertale inspired the creation of my baby child children that i will cherish til the ends of time.
