I feel like modern AUs with the Muses should have their collective surname be Von Pinn.

Otilia is the only one we know for certain ever HAD one, so...

Could also be van Rijn or just Muse, I guess. Optional variant: Collective surname of van Rijn, but also Otilia got married and quickly widowed by someone with the surname von Pinn.

In modern AUs, RVR is their dad because. He's their creator and the closest thing they have to one in canon. They don't NEED a father figure in canon, but if they're human in the modern AU then they logistically need at least one parent in some way.

"Who's their mom" he hired surrogates and would have grown them in tubes if he could.

This issue of the Girl Genius comic book was printed in April 2004 and includes pages 5 to 31 of volume 4 of the graphic novel series. The pages in the comic book are numbered 1 to 27. The pages in this issue of the comic book are larger than those in the first ten, which were standard comic book size. Issue eleven and those following have pages the same size as in the graphic novels.

The story in this issue of the comic book is notable because Agatha “dies” on the last page. One has to wonder what Girl Genius fans reading the comic at the time thought of this, especially since they had to wait three months before the next issue of the comic book came out.

The first appearance of Kaja's chibi versions of Girl Genius characters. Kaja would go on to create chibi versions of many other main characters, and use them for desktop wallpaper, pins, patches, and so on.

"An Agatha Heterodyne 1 Minute Mystery" is a completely goofy single-page short story that was printed in Volume 6, Agatha Heterodyne and the Golden Trilobite. It can also be found online on a obscure page on the Girl Genius website.

The note from the Faculty is an interesting nugget of Girl Genius history, and will be covered as an addendum.

This is the first time a title page has been included in one of the comic books.

Agatha Clay is a Spark—capable of scientific wonders. She is also the last of the famous Heterodyne family—Heroes who disappeared mysteriously many years ago. Folk legend claims that they will someday return, much like England's King Arthur. Agatha was raised by Adam and Lilith Clay—a pair of constructs built by her father and uncle. Adam & Lilith are better known in stories of the Heterodynes as Punch and Judy. The Clays have just helped Agatha escape from the giant airship Castle Wulfenbach—at the cost of their lives. Also fleeing the Castle is Krosp—a failed experiment created to be the King of the Cats. Castle Wulfenbach is the fortress of Baron Klaus Wulfenbach—an old companion of the Heterodynes who now rules Europe with an iron fist. The Baron would prefer to keep Agatha safely a prisoner. The Baron's son Gilgamesh would also like her to stay, but he has other reasons. And this is a Mimmoth.

This page was used as the "Our Story Thus Far" page in Volume 4, Agatha Heterodyne and the Circus of Dreams, but with the heading added and in sepia tones instead of full color.
