#JiffyPop disappeared from our local grocery stores six months ago. By chance I saw some yesterday and grabbed a bunch along with some Mt. Dew #Voodew. Mountain Dew VooDEW is Creeping Across the U.S.!

VooDEW, the latest in a long line of limited-edition flavors in the Mountain Dew lineup is now appearing in stores across the U.S. This Halloween-themed beverage is the brand’s first mystery-flavored drink, and it’s cloudy white color lends no hints to drinkers trying to decipher its secret taste.

So what exactly does it taste like? No, it’s not Pumpkin Spice, and it certainly isn’t reminiscent of the previous Halloween-themed DEW flavors Pitch Black and Pitch Black II, which were black grape- and sour black grape-flavored, respectively. VooDEW’s taste is much lighter, and it has been compared to other sweets such as an orange creamsicle and Skittles candy. Personally, I found that the taste reminded me of tablet candies such as Smarties, Sweet Tarts, and Bottlecaps.

You can find VooDEW in 20oz bottles and 12-can packs by using the Official Mountain Dew Locator. If all else fails, Dollar General stores seem to be getting new DEW flavors first, so try checking their locations.

VooDEW won’t be the last holiday-themed flavor of Mountain Dew in the foreseeable future. In fact, our sources indicate that we will see Christmas and New Years themed DEW flavors in stores later this year, so stay tuned to MountainDewFTW for more updates. Reblog to spread some VooDEW!

Clairvius Narcisse (January 2, 1922 – 1994) was a Haitian man said to have been turned into a zombie by a Haitian vodou preparation, purportedly a combination of psychoactive substances. The single greatest proponent of this possibility was a graduate student in ethnobotany at Harvard University, Wade Davis, who published two popular books based on his travels and ideas during and immediately following his graduate training. However, subsequent scientific examinations using tools of analytical chemistry alongside critical review of earlier reports have failed to support the presence of the claimed key pharmacologically active compound tetrodotoxin in the preparation, which was central to the phenomena and mechanism reported by Davis. No further supporting evidence has appeared. Based on the presumption that tetrodotoxin and related toxins are not always fatal, but at near-lethal doses can leave a person in a state of near-death for several days with the person remaining conscious, tetrodotoxin has been alleged to result in zombieism, and has been suggested as an ingredient in Haitian Vodou preparations. After various anthropologic investigations of "zombie" stories in various cultures—including Narcisse and a handful of others—reports appeared that Narcisse received a dose of a chemical mixture containing tetrodotoxin (a pufferfish toxin) and bufotoxin (a toad toxin) to induce a coma that mimicked the appearance of death. He was then allowed to return to his home where he collapsed, "died", and was buried.
