Trump's tariffs = taxes make no sense for products/resources America does not have
One of Trump’s persistent lies to the American people is that foreign governments pay the tariffs on imports. In reality, a combination of American companies and consumers pay these tariffs (taxes on imports). For your average American consumer, that means they have less buying power because some of their income goes to paying these extra taxes on imported goods. Trump seems to be confused and think that natural resources are distributed evenly around the world. This is not the case. Let’s look at one example: coffee. Americans drink about 450 million cups of coffee per day. Two-thirds of American adults report that they drink coffee daily. Coffee beans are grown in tropical, humid regions, often at high elevation. Only about 1% (at most) of coffee consumed in the US is home-grown (Hawaii and a few regions in southern California and Florida). Coffee grows best in USDA plant zone 10b or warmer. The fact is that the US doesn’t have a whole lot of land to grow tropical commodities like coffee or sugarcane or pineapples. Therefore 99% of coffee has to be imported from other countries. Trump has imposed tariffs of ranging from 10 to 50% depending on the source. When Trump brags about how much money his tariffs are bringing in, he’s really bragging about new taxes he has imposed on Americans who purchase any kind of import. America can’t grow coffee in anywhere near the quantities that it consumes it. Does it make sense that an American president would impose tariffs on an import like coffee? Raising the price of coffee through randomly imposed tariffs hurts the grocery budget of average Americans. Does it increase American jobs? No, we have already established that the US has a very finite area to grow tropical crops (of which coffee is just one example), so growth in this area is extremely limited. Does Trump have any understanding of how the US economy works or is he simply power drunk on his current ability to impose tariffs on countries he doesn’t like?

Match 10 of Group C Stages in the 2026 Battle of the Week Voting Tournament
Vote 2026: The spotlight shifts to the cartoon community as we are nearing the end of the group stages in the 2026 Battle of the Week Voting Tournament. Fourteen candidates left standing in the race with six candidates from the anime community and one from the cartoon community already clinched their spots in the playoffs. Now, this week and the next, that number will go down to twelve. In March 9, Louise Belcher (Bob's Burgers) will win the group regardless of result because is expected to hit triple digits in the standings since she already clinched a playoff spot back in June.
The real drama is Louise’s opponent in Match 9 of Group C, Anne Boonchuy (Amphibia), along with Match 10 with one of the two candidates on that ballot, Luz Noceda (The Owl House), who has an easy matchup against Lana Kane (Archer). They are both tied with 78 points in their respective columns. Only one can advance, although, both could advance if they get over the 100-point threshold, currently held by Hailey Banks (Hailey's On It), who is not on the ballot for this week. Either Luz or Anne advance with Louise and Hailey or both Anne and Luz advancing and Hailey being the one getting eliminated (Louise cannot be touched since she already clinched a playoff berth).
