This is the practice I did for my animation of Auden running through the ruins. I decided to do a test to not only practice drawing the same character more than once, but to see how long it would take me. I plan to do a different one for Auden’s roommate, Vulwin, who is escaping too. I decided to use a running motion like this as this can be looped and the backgrounds changed to show the passing of time during the animation.

So what are Maurice and Vulwin? Some kind of demon species?

Maurice and Vulwin are a species that I made called Reformers. I have a few more named Samson, Isaiah, and Hunger. Hunger was the first of these and I have had him since..2015 I would say?

But ANYWAYS, reformers are basically the walking embodiment of sin. They reside in the underworld where the lust demons lurk. Here they tend and serve the demons, either it be offering food and wine, giving them a 'check up' (since reformers are a great source of energy for a lust demon needing a pick me up), or simply watching over them..and they watch well. Reformers aren't always good to lust demons...infact if a lust demon messes up then reformers are sent after this demon to deal with them..typically this ends up with a new reformer being made.

You see...All reformers were once either demons, humans, or any sort of humanoid being..but they were turned into a reformer..aka reformed. Reformers do not have the ability to breed..they are all completely sterile.

So how do they multiple? Simple. Once a reformer has caught some prey, they may choose to reform them. In this process, the reformer pulls the being into them and engulfs them. Since their body is made of a slime/tar like substance, it's pretty easy for them. Plus they can control how dense and thin it is. But once the being is inside the changes are made. Flesh and bone gets digested but the soul remains. The soul being the white floaty smokey thing above their heads. After some time, the reformer will reach in and pull that out along with a large chunk of themselves..though this will grow back after some feedings. The slime will take form and thus a new fully grown reformer is born.

Blinded reformers have no visible eyes. They are called blinded because they are blind to their past selves and do not remember anything. This is what causes them to typically be mindless, vile, sinful creatures. BUT a reformer can be helped to remember , though it takes time and a lot of patience since it is rather dangerous to be around one...especially touched by one.

A touch can be deadly. Brief touches are more harmless..like a poke or push. This won't cause corruption but it will make the victim extremely aroused. A longer touch or even a grab is when it is harmful. The flesh will turn black and continous touching will cause it to spread and eventually kill the victim..But typically when a reformer is coming after someone, it's game over to start with.

They have a pecking order but it isn't based on size or strength..It's bling. Yes, that shiney jewelry is what determines who is the best. More gold, more power! This makes reformers greedy and they typically will still shiney things to decorate their bodies with.

They also are always hungry and can eat 24/7. They can eat anything and will eat anything..except anything holy. That hurts..speaking of things that hurt them. They can not be in direct light. Sun light, lamps, flashlights, ect..Anything bright hurts them and they will quickly hide in shadows and under furniture. They also can not be in water as their bodies will begin to melt. Though they can just regain what they lost..they would rather not lose their slime mass.

The reckless adventurer, Win is often found roaming the campus or hanging off the balcony of his residential house. Born into a family of averageness, Win is used to being “just okay.” Not in emotions but in every aspect of his life. He doesn’t have the best grades, but he’s working on that with extra tutoring. He doesn’t have the best clothes, but even though some of his classmates care, Win certainly doesn’t. The light elf grew up in a typical suburban development not too far from Greenwood Academy. A mixture of humans and magical beings, Win was surrounded by overly friendly people who never took risks. He believes in living life to the fullest, going on spontaneous trips or adventures; off and on campus. He dreams of a better life, however, one that isn’t so dull.

The Order of Glaine appeals to him and he’s curious to know what they’re all about. If it means something other than waiting around to graduate, then he’s in. Most days, though, he’s worrying about what stunt to pull next or what party to plan behind the faculty’s back. As open as he may be, Win does have a darker side to his magic. While he is decent enough with his earth magic, Win also has began to try and practice shadow magic. It hasn’t been easy--sometimes even painful--but he’s determined to try and use both magics without any sacrifice. Perhaps if he succeeds, it’ll be his biggest stunt yet.

33.) Your shyest OC?

This is a tough one, considering they all have some level of timidity around other people, but if we ignore the social anxiety aspect it would probably be Vulwin. He really is just shy because he’s not used to company, but it doesn’t render him completely sick to talk to someone new or to be around a crowd.

40.) Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!

I think the fondest memories are (of course) linked to my two oldest ocs, Starky and Jives. In particular drawing Starky’s very first concept and his naming are two very fond if emotional memories. As for Jives, she’s based entirely on experiences in my horrible childhood, and overcoming those experiences sooo… yeah. Kinda heavy stuff there (but if any of you want more details totally message me and I’ll rant about it).

44.) Something you like about your OCs in general

I like that they all have a piece of me in them somewhere- I like that having them in my head helps me make sense of my own thoughts and emotions and values, and I like that they’ve brought me closer to a lot of people who are now in my life.

48.) OC who is a perfect cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure

Aurias, Bornite, and Dart all tie for this one. They’ve all got the same innocent, naive, save-the-world attitude that can’t be shaken, no matter what horrible things happen to them. Also their limited knowledge on things they should probably know at their age, and their tendencies to be adorable without even trying.
