Savannah’s style can be very professional if it wants to, but lately has had a sporty name brand vibe. Because of her body image struggles, she prefers black pants and over-sized shirts to hide her size. Whenever she can, she wears workout gear. The brand doesn’t matter to her as much as the fact people see her in running shoes and leggings always ready to work out. Her shoes are almost always different versions of a lace-up tennis shoe, and she does not wear accessories because she does not see the point. Her hair is usually up in a bun or in a braid of some kind.
McKenzie likes to think that she doesn’t care about her appearance, but her outfit choices beg to differ. Her makeup is caked more often than not with a hue dark enough to match the rest of her clothes. Most of her outfits appear on the greyscale when it comes to colors. Her hair is almost always worn down and straight, occasionally with a beanie. She is usually never seen without the following items:
Combat Boots- A staple of most of her outfits, almost all her shoes are some form of clunky combat boot. It takes a lot to get her to wear something other than her favorite pair of black boots.
A pack of cigarettes- If she’s outside, she probably has a cigarette in her hand, most likely stained from her deep red or black lipsticks. She carried these in a book bag or a backpack, but will never be seen with a purse. She also prefers pants with pockets for this exact reason- so she doesn’t have to carry around a bag to have her lighter with her.
Overall, McKenzie’s style could be described as modern grunge.
“I’m very classic with my style. Since a lot of my major/future career depends on how professional I look, I try to get myself into the habit of dressing that way. I’m really into fitted slacks and a little more than casual dress shirts.I always tuck my shirt in when I’m wearing something like that. But don’t get me wrong there are times where I do just wear a pair of skinny jeans and a regular old button up or a t-shirt and sweatpants. I just think I look much more handsome in professional or like business casual attire. The one thing I never leave home without is this gorgeous watch that Eli bought me for Christmas. It’s literally my pride and joy. I’d be lost if something ever happened to it.”
Bed-rest. Two words that did not resonate well with Lilianna. She preferred to keep busy, and being cooped up in her southern home was not helping that cause. She’d been off housework for more than two months now with consideration for her previous complications, and it was safe to say she was going a bit stir crazy. So that particular day after her husband had gone off to work, the brunette had taken it upon herself to finish decorating the nursery despite the doctor’s orders and being 8 months pregnant. It was admittedly harder to move around in the state she was in, and there wasn’t much that didn’t make her winded. But none the less, she spent the next hour hanging pictures to the best of her ability.
It was oddly quiet in the quaint home that stood just a few miles away from where she grew up. Lily still hadn’t entirely gotten used to a house being so quiet without her family or Thomas’ around to liven things up. True, they’d only been married a year. But it was adjusting from a lifetime of background noise that drove Lilianna ever so slightly insane. She was excited to have something- someone- in the house to rid the foreign home of it’s eerie quiet roar.
After a while, Lily decided she needed to take a break as her feet began to swell. Sitting down carefully in the cushioned rocking chair, Lily smiled. Her heart was filled with a warm mixture of accomplishment and excitement. It was odd thinking about where she was in her life, and how different her life had been just a few months before. In less than a month, there would be another person who live in this room. Her person. Their person. The sound of her husband’s voice rang through her memory as she rocked slowly in the chair and breathed in the room’s scent. She knew she loved this person, and she hadn’t even met them. Placing a gentle hand on her stomach, she simply stared at her rounded belly until she heard a knock at the door.
The wooden door swung open to reveal a lanky man in the doorway, holding a small bouquet of flowers. “Thomas,” Lily smiled softly; something she’d taught herself to do in his presence. “Happy Valentines Day.” the man returned the grin, rubbing her shoulder quickly as he handed over the flowers. “They were the best I could do on short notice.” Lily examined the bouquet before glancing up at him. “You forgot?” her brown eyes examined him knowingly. “Yeah,” the man breathed as he looked around the room. “The room looks... nice. Reckon y’all will have it done in no time flat.” he nodded as he looked back at his wife. An invisible tension between them was evident, but something the two had slowly learned to ignore. “I suppose so,” Lily nodded, although she knew she’d reminded him several times she’d decorate the room herself. Clearing her throat after a moment, she hoisted herself up with one hand. “So dinner?” she asked him as she fought to maintain her balance. “Dinner,” he nodded, holding out an arm for her to steady herself as he lead the way out the door.
