An (Incomplete) Guide to the Drinks of the Dunmer
Ashfire Mead - This drink is moreso a result of the Dunmer's migration to Solsthiem after the Red Year, this blend perfectly encapsulates a harmony between the two races that has yet to be achieved, but we can dream, can't we? Ashfire mead is translucent and golden-red in tone, the color of the sun settling beyond the City of Vivec, brewed from ash creep cluster, honey, cinnamon, marshmerrow, and firesalts to warm the blood, the Nordic influence is not missed in the sweetest of all alcoholic beverages, though hard to find outside of Solsthiem.
Balmora Blue - This drink, despite being illegal, typically can be served over the counter at most cornerclubs, provided you ask for it soft enough that the House Guards don't overhear. A highly alcoholic beverage brewed from hallucinagenic moon sugar, black anther, stoneflower petals, violet coprinus, and just a dash of nightshade, this is not consumed by the public, only those who have already dabbled in skooma choose this. It's a sticky, midnight blue, and it's not uncommon to add an additional pinch of moonsugar to the drink. Doing this turns it opalesent and milky, but if you burn the sugar before adding it, the color will darken and turn iridicent, shining a bright violet in the light. However you take it, ensure that you are where you plan to spend the night, this halluncinagenic drink is known to make users volatile and emotional in response to the slightest provocation. Consume with care.
Cliff Racer - Fermented from wickwheat, this fizzy brew is most comparable to a beer. Lowest in alcohol content but easy to drink, though some insist it tastes like piss and turn their nose up at it, though cheap enough to buy round after round. The color varies, but is typically pale and translucent, with a gold and greenish tint.
Cyrodilic Brandy - Brewed with a mix of cornberries and grapes, and flavored with columbine and orange zest, this sweet imported brandy is a favorite of high ranking house elves, though you would be hard pressed to find one willing to admit it. The lovely rose tint might fool one into thinking this is a wine, but the alcohol content begs to differ.
Flin - Shimmery and golden, this whiskey imported from Cyrodiil is well worth the inflated tax impressed upon it, this oaky beverage is mild in alcoholic flavor despite the high content, it tastes more like a dessert sweetened with vanilla and spice, and is more comparable to our tequila. This drink is a favorite among those who can afford it, for the lack of side effects that accompany it. Truly the drink of champions!
Greef - This cornberry brandy is common amongst the lower classes, and while the taste is bitter, 30 drakes will buy you a bottle large enough to last the night.
Mazte - Brewed locally, this saltrice and wickwheat fermented drink will leave your wallet intact for the price of making you dumb as a doornail while you drink it, a foul hangover the next morning. Still, a favorite amongst the locals.
Shein - A wine brewed fermented cornberry, this drink keeps it's color and is indigo in tone. It's cheap, stronger than a Cliff Racer, this is the most common choice of the general populace. Alcoholics tend to have have their teeth stained by the dark colored drink.
Sujamma - This clear-as-water drink can knock even a Nord flat on their ass, but will leave them as giddy as a schoolchild. Brewed from saltrice, the slightest taste of the sea clings to your tongue well after you've finished. But left in a good mood, you're not going to complain tonight. (But maybe tomorrow, the hangover you get from this drink will leave you in a worse place than you started)
