Every day I think "my boobs can not get any more tender than they are now", but they do though. They do.

Today I Learned: about closures in JavaScript.
Today we began our journey into JavaScript. We talked about some of the ways JavaScript is different from Ruby. For example, all of those curly braces {} and semi-colons ;. There are multiple falsy values in JS compared to Ruby's nil and false. We talked about the necessity of using () to invoke a function.
There are apparently multiple ways to call a function in JS; here are three: Function-style, Method-style, and Constructor-style.
After learning about some basics of JS, we split up into pairs to get our feet wet. We worked on the exercises we did when we were learning Ruby but with JS! JS has its quirks and took a little getting used to. I'm find that JS isn't as user-friendly as Ruby.

First day of Javascript. We basically did the first couple of days of the Ruby curriculum in Javascript today. After the initial shock of all the parentheses, semicolons, and functions, it started to make sense. The returns in Javascript are a lot less intuitive than Ruby and the syntax is not as straight-forward, but I'm excited to build some really cool stuff in JS. I want to see these magical libraries to help construct 3D interactive stuff.

App Academy: Week 5, Day 4
Today was big--our first day with JavaScript. Seeing as it was our first day with JavaScript, we focused on just getting the hang of the basics of the language by repeating exercises in JavaScript that we had done during the first week of App Academy in Ruby. In all, we learned JavaScript syntax, how to create objects and functions, how to pass functions as callbacks to other functions, how to write constructors for objects, and how to use closures to capture variables from a wider scope within a function of narrower scope defined within that wider scope. In addition, we learned how to use a JavaScript linter and how to debug scripts using Chrome's built-in debugger.
Although JavaScript definitely takes some getting used to after constantly using only ruby for a few months, I'm already really starting to like it!
Today my partner got stuck in an elevator for an hour But we still finished everything Wooooo
js: the Beginnings - w5d4
Today, we began our journey into the exciting world of JavaScript. We reapplied many of the concepts we learned in ruby to JavaScript including monkey patching each and similar things to JavaScript. It took a bit of time to figure the exact syntax out but otherwise, it wasn't too bad.
