Cryptid of the Day: Waheela

Description: In Inuit mythology, the Amarok is a giant wolf that will devour anyone who hunts at night. In the Nahanni Valley in the Northwest Territories in Canada, the creature is called Waheela. Cryptozoologist Ivan Sanderson theorized that these giant wolves could be surviving prehistoric bear-dogs, which went extinct around 39 million years ago.

The waheela is a large, canine cryptid that has been sighted in the Nahanni National Park Reserve in Canada's Northwest Territories, as well as areas of Alaska and Michigan. It is said to resemble a huge wolf.

It has been speculated that the waheela could be a surviving amphicyonid, or "bear-dog." Others have suggested it might be a dire wolf.

This was just me messing around with some new fur painting techniques as well as a new wolf/werewolf OC of mine~ Inspired by and loosely based on the waheela but more on the werewolf side.
